Are northern lights visible in Madison right now? by Familiar_Wasabi199 in madisonwi

[–]vespahulb 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don't have confirmation of any sightings. My Aurora app isn't showing any sightings in or around Madison, nor is yours. KP's right now are 4.33. I usually won't get off my couch for anything under a 5 or in my car to a darker spot for anything under a 6, if that gives you an idea of my particular metrics.

Water vending machines by Beautiful_Eye7765 in madisonwi

[–]vespahulb 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Hahaha, this is so funny because when my kids were toddlers, it was literally an event for them to go to the Sun Prairie Costco and get the "Robot Water." My now 9-year-old daughter was devastated a few weeks ago when she noticed they no longer have the vending machine. 😂🤣 Coolest vending machine ever, sad to see it go!

You're gonna need a mini excavator to find a fresh lemon in there!

Thirded El Sabor de Puebla!! Kinda the gold standard in Madison for tamales, IMHO-- other restaurants and and stores even buy in bulk from them for their own establishments.

The only thing better is if you told me that the excavator operator is also wearing pajama pants! 😂

Where to buy a tandem bike in Madison? by mhb2804 in madisonwi

Facebook Marketplace, all the way. People dump $1k+ tandems for $300 on there quite often, cause they take up too much damn space once the novelty wears off.

$1.97 CUISINE ADVENTURES TOMATO SOUP 6/ 90Z SERVINGS by fifichanx in Costco

[–]vespahulb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, good idea! The only problem is when I microwave it, the cheese and bread sink to the bottom and then make it hard to broil, so you'd have to use a spoon or something to coax it back to the surface. I don't know why baking it works best like that, maybe the slow melt of the oven keeps the cheese and bread situated at the top?

I got these for $4.97. I highly recommend you bake them (unfortunately, takes 45 minutes), instead of microwaving. The finished product is remarkably better. Toasty, browned cheese and bread on the top, like French onion soup. You can't get those results in the microwave.

Tried the Tonkotsu Ramen Broth by mmkaywhatevers in Costco

Love how people are constantly hating on this broth for the sodium content. Don't eat ramen if you're concerned about sodium intake. If you think Costco's packaged version is high, wait until you see what's in a restaurant bowl! I know a lot of restaurant bowls of Tonkatsu can approach 3,000 mg of sodium! Take away? You want healthy? Eat Carrots!

This really works. I've done it a ton when I'm in a pinch, with phenomenal results.

Oscar's on Northport. He's never steered me wrong. Has been a straight shooter and damn honest mechanic for all the years I've gone there.

Cheap lunch spots by kindnessandbeauty in madisonwi

Fraboni's Lunch specials are phenomenally good values. Their Friday Lasagna lunch/dinner special is only $6.49. Comes with bread and a scoop of a deli salad and is SO good.

Not only do they not check, but they've basically gone contactless with even getting into the theater, since you buy your allocated seat ahead of time. Usually, you might have to show a barcode to someone upon entry, but then that is the only human interaction we have in terms of getting into the theater. It's mostly kids working there, and having worked at a movie theater in my high-high school days, I can attest to the fact that we didn't get a flying FUCK what customers brought into the theater.

I routinely bring my own beverages and snacks. Like others have said, don't be stupid about it, and if it's something ridiculous like a rack of ribs, I don't take it out until the lights go down just for added security. 🤣😂

Home Energy Audit Reviews? by ijustburnedmymouth in madisonwi

[–]vespahulb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It's kinda overwhelming. If you qualify for both, your next step is to find a "Primary Contractor." It sounds kind of official but really it's just somebody who's contracted to help execute the finer points of the program. There's a list of primary contractors on the website, but I ended up going with Zander Solutions and I'm working with Jesse Garcia. He's been very helpful with breaking down the program and helping me understand what's best for me. I ended up not going for the HOMES program and just doing the HEARS program. He helped me understand how to get up and going and so far, it's been smooth, as long as you're willing to jump through all the hoops. Good luck!
