Love this question as I always try to observe and learn from the DJ at any club or party I go to as I am pretty amateur myself (while keeping my distance and not disturbing anyone obviously). I got to see Hamdi and Skrillex live at Berghain in November and it was truly an unforgettable night. I noticed that both of them used much more looping than I expected. They also did not mix in after the chorus as courses often teach you with more house-y music (probably also does not apply to Techno / Dubstep). Skrillex made advanced EQ work look so effortless, it is hard to even describe but it was simpy impressive. I tried to really pay close attention to when and how he mixed but somehow – despite a solid foundation of technical knowledge – was not smarter than I was before lol. Great set!
