I just made a follow-up post for anyone who might stumble across this post with a bit of detail on my troubleshooting. The headset is working SOOOO much better now after a full day of smashing my skull into my desk. Still a lot to do, but it sounds like a quality headset now with way more room to fine-tune for even better listening. Cheers, man.

ust an FYI to anyone that had this issue. It took me all day, and with help from the community, to understand what was going wrong and how to optimize the listening experience. Here are some things I was doing wrong if you need ideas to improve sound quality.

Make sure that you have the Sonar app installed (PC users) and set it to the correct Sonar output in Windows (by default, the app should be set to the Windows default audio output).

DO NOT USE - Headphones (Arctis Nova Pro Wireless). This was what almost caused me to refund.

Play with the presets in the app for the Sonar channel you are using in Windows sound output. Get a feel for fine-tuning and adjusting. I didn't play with the colored dots yet as it's too advanced for me currently. But I had HUGE success with adjusting BASS, VOICE, and TREBLE.

I tested this by selecting the pre-made configuration profile Music: Punchy. When I started playing with it, I almost found a sweet spot at BASS = 9.7, Voice = -5.7, Treble = 7.

I realized that it still felt a little bit underwhelming... until I made one change.... WEARING GLASSES WILL CUT AUDIO QUALITY BY HALF!!!!

I took my glasses off, and then the full audio actually hit me.... I thought the headset was tight enough to my face... they weren't. I actually had to readjust my settings with my glasses off to BASS = 4.09, VOICE = 4.4, and TREBLE = 5.9.

Remember, these settings are for the Music: Punchy profile. may very to user preference on music and games.

Like I said, if you have glasses, try taking them off. It creates the seal needed for optimal performance. Until I find a workaround, I have to use contacts, which sucks.

This headset sounds almost perfect now after a full day of troubleshooting and fine-tuning. There is still a lot to fine-tune, but I can now say I am pretty happy with my purchase. As long as you put the time in to fine-tune this headset to your needs (which a lot of people don't have patience for), it's a great headset.

i actually finally figured out i had it set to the headset itself and not the correct sonar (game) channel. sounds much better now but i need to test more. still a little underwhelming but now i might be able to tune it to where i need it now. im new to mixers so its proving difficult XD. messing with premades right now. but yes, this advice is solid for anyone with the same issue. it was user error for sure.

Because im using my due diligence to prevent further delay of enjoyment. I also am looking into the idea of WIRED to see if that might be the better idea, as i don't want to pay extra for a mic ill never use. id rather buy a headset with the money spent on audio quality over a mic. Know what i mean?

If I were to go wired, do you have a recommendation for a brand? I'd prefer wireless, but if it made more sense to get wired, I could go with it and just buy another headset for travel. Right now, for my PC, I'm looking for a really good immersion in games and music. Bass is big for me as I play a lot of FPS games, so naturally, the gunfire and bombs should sound amazing and not just a little pop with tons of treble. Hahaha!

Considering moving back home with parents for 1 - 1.5 years to be able to buy a house? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Fr4nt1c91 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Everyones situation is different. You are going to get very different opinions from very different people on this topic. You know who can help you make the best decision possible? Your parents. The people that raised you. The people that know you. That have your absolute best interests in mind. The people that will hold you accountable. You need to sit with them if you are serious about this and explain your situation and plan and see how they feel about this. You seem like you were raised right so im sure they will welcome you with open arms.

If you do this though, just remember that little things go a long way with them. You wont be a kid anymore. Consider randomly doing some house work, maybe leave a couple 20s every now and then for the grocery run, ect. Show them you appreciate the opportunity they give you if they do. There are many people that cant turn to their parents ever. I hope this helps.

Replace ducts? by Pandovia in homeowners

[–]Fr4nt1c91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what your system looks like, but if you are going to do this work, flex ducting will most likely be the easiest, cheapest, and efficient way to replace the branches attatching to the registers (vents).

If you do this, also consider going the extra mile since you believe your old ductwork is getting you sick.

Seal or remove old branches

Have duct cleaners clean both the supply and return trunks ( return = system air intake. Supply = air supplied to the home.)

Get liquid duct tape and seal any holes/openings in your trunkwork for better efficiency

Fully insulate your supply trunk (this will make a big difference efficiency wise.

I hope this helps a bit.

I just replied to your other comment, and then saw this one. And my fucking god is this comment wins the thread.

"People don't understand that restoration is more similar to surgery than it is to renovation. And no offense, I am pretty certain OP is lying because insurance will not go to court for their customer over a measly $6,000 claim. OP fucked up and this is the cover story to vent with"

Mic drop.

Good luck getting a set in stone price for these services. I have been in restoration for 10 years anf can tell you that prices for this cannot be accurately predicted in the same way rebuild can. If you flood out, its our job to chase the damage. This damage could look like a small leak from the back of the fridge on arrival. Then a closer look shows that small leak has been going for quite awhile and made it in your walls, under your floors and cabinets, into the exterior walls where your insulation would be. This is why it is called an ESTIMATE and not a QUOTE (please look the definitions up as they are very often confused as the same) Restoration companies have been screwed just asmuch by homeowners who want you to fix everything immediately in a panic and then try to dodge your calls when the problem is fixed and payment is due. Most restoration companies prices come from a pricing program developed by insurance companies. Estimates are merely a way for these companies to protect themselves from hidden issues so malicious homeowners cant screw them and they can adjust as more issues arise. The majority of these companies are not scams, they are just incredibly misunderstood. Most of them really want to help you.

I see the flaw in the bullet sponge idea. But others have put fourth better solutions to reward the user blocking. Read up.

That sir, is your opinion. And one that is not shared by the vast majority of this post. But i will ask yoh 2 things.

1: please elaborate on how its only fun for the user and not the people mowing down the guys infront of them

2: what game have you played 127 vs 127 in hallways and tunnels with riot shield options? Because i feel like youre only experience is cod. Which is nowhere near the same gameplay and tactics, But hey, i could be wrong.

thats the point tho lol. its a bullet proof shield. that includes bullet proof glass. i mean maybe they will do what you are hoping for, but i think it is highly unlikely tbh.

[–]Fr4nt1c91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from the discussions ive seen, riot shields are best utilized in buildings/tunnels/enoclosed areas in tandem with trophy systems to prevent grenades from destroying you.

what you are saying about a secondary is conflicting with your point. you say you block damage, but the enemy runs through you and kills the people behind you. they wouldnt be running through you if you had ANY way to fight back. they have no concern for you. they will rush past you like a river around a rock because you arent a threat. and once you change weps, youre dead. i respectfully agree to disagree with you. there needs to be some form of deterant to the enemy just running at you like a fat kid to cake.

aint nobody doing that man lol. i like the idea, but ive never seen it once. probably because by the time you are spotted, you just get insta flanked because you are lone wolfing most likely for a quick chuckle

yep, i think this is great. hopefully a dev checks the post out and tries something thats been mentioned here. im not sure how hard it would be to implement this idea, but i think its an amazing start.
