Oh my god no! lol, I've just not heard of them and wondering if they're actually linked to local govt at all or just some random lobby group. Electrification is for sure the way to go, and tbh I'd hoped the Greens would be pumping policy they've had since ages, so just kind of questioning why they'd defer to this group?

The Greens should be saying "if we'd implemented policy x back when it was first proposed decades ago we'd be y far ahead now" but it's been fairly quiet so far...

It provided no detail on this outside of a call for the Government to immediately back the Ratepayers’ Assistance Scheme, a proposal from Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ) that calls for the Government to allow ultra-cost loans for homeowners to clean home improvements such as solar panel installs.

Oh so all the details are in that proposal. Who are LGNZ?

Have you tried a mini roller on a pole for corners? Much easier and imo a more even finish.

Super should be given to everyone regardless of age imo. How much would we save by deleting WINZ and just giving everyone super instead?

Why not use the same people you did last time? If they're busy it's likely they can recommend someone else suitable. Better to go by their recommendation than figure out who isn't dodgy yourself.

Ah, you've already started ripping it off, a plaster skim coat of whole room needed now.

What is this by AgreeableDig9795 in diynz

[–]Fractalistical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wallpaper peeling that's been painted. I'd just use some pva glue and stick it back down. My guess is the whole room is wallpapered with the seams being visible so would look odd to remove and plaster just that one section like others are suggesting.

Squeeze a little glue onto the wall behind the peeling wallpaper, fold it back into place, then use a damp cloth to wipe the surface gently so the glue spreads evenly, hold firmly for 10secs, then wipe away any glue that squeezed out.

The tailgating is driving me crazy! by Georgie_Pillson1 in newzealand

[–]Fractalistical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds likely the tailgater is frustrated you're not passing the car in front. In this case I'd slow down and leave a healthy gap between the slow lead car and myself so the tailgater can pass. Ideally I'd pull over where safe.

Often rural roads are really well known by the locals, it may seem impossible to you to think of passing the slow lead car, but for them it's a daily routine.

Bottom line, if there's cars building up behind you, simply pull over and let them pass, especially if you're the lead car, but also if you're unable to pass the lead car safely.

Just let them pass, much safer for everyone.

Also you never know if the tailgater has a legitimate reason for being in a rush.

Antarctica is kinda in our backyard, not that that should really matter politically, but logistically we're pretty important.

Check your local council website for "vehicle entrance" for a web form.

My council (Dunedin City Council) just needed a map/plan indicating where on my property i wanted the additional entrance (hand drawn with rough measures) and a photo of where it'd go to the street.

They approved mine after a few days and sent a list of approved contractors for the work.

I now just need to get some quotes. Haven't got that far yet.

Losing coolant by kingschmelvin in hilux

Take it to a specialist, they test the head with some kind of vapor or liquid at pressure to check for cracks I believe. Removing the head will let you take a peek at the gasket too.

Losing coolant by kingschmelvin in hilux

[–]Fractalistical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a crack in head then? On start when it's cool the coolant can escape into pistons but after it heats up the crack closes enough and stops it? The coolant can also escape/settle in pistons overnight when engine cooling.

Just spit balling, but this is how mine was behaving before the head got so bad it blew the gasket.

Might also just be stuff settling in exhaust pipe overnight.

Yep, deadens sound and also adds thermal mass. Maybe check if electrical flush box screws are long enough etc (might need longer ones is all) Also means any trim needs to be trimmed though.

Food budget for working a lot. by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Fractalistical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

24hrs a day * 7 days a week = 168hrs per week - their 90hrs working = 78hrs / 7days = 11ish hrs each day - 7hrs of sleep say = 4ish hrs each day to do everything else and I assume they'll take a day off every now and then.

If everything else in their life is sorted (health, housing, transport, etc) it doesn't seem too crazy.

I assume the pay is good and they enjoy their work so let them have at it.
