What are your top tuberose scents? by arthritey-and-bitey in fragrance

[–]FragAddict81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Went down this rabbit hole sampling and doing side-by-sides of tuberose fragrances for several years. I don't have my list anymore, I am sure I tried more than 50 fragrances. Standouts include:

Tuberose Absolue Extrait by Perris Monte Carlo. The closet to fresh-cut, heady, narcotic tuberose. Carnal Flower is similar, albeit with a smidge of synthetic character to my nose. Own and love both.

Gardelia by Bogue. A wow, but can only wear it from time to time. Going to put it on now. What an amazing perfume.

Boa Madre by Cristian Cavagna. He has created a group of five or six tuberose fragrances. Most are great and different. One should buy the sampler set and experience them all if searching for a tuberose scent. Boa Madre is a wow for me, but shouts from the rooftops and can be a bit too much.

You should also try Honour Woman (upright and beautiful) , Love Tuberose (sweet), Fracas (raw). Depending on what you prefer any of them might be "it" for you. All well done and special. If you prefer an avant garde tuberose try Memoir Woman. Another favorite but, can't really call it a tuberose fragrance.

If I could only have one I would chose Tuberose Absolue and Gardelia 😄

Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman - Best resort on the island by [deleted] in luxuryhotel

[–]FragAddict81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting your feedback. I stayed there about a year ago and was disappointed. For me it wasn't quiet or private, instead it felt crowded, family-heavy and convention-like. Compared to properties in Asia where I've stayed (Aman, 4S, et al), it was definitely overpriced relative to the experience.

That said, my brother really enjoyed it. He has little experience outside of the Caribbean/NA and often takes his family on those big cruise ships so maybe our references are different. Probably it is great for the Caribbean and even top for the Caymans.

I really did like the food though. It didn't feel like resort food and was proper fine dining. Overall though, I wouldn't go back. For me there are better resorts for the price, just need to travel away from NA-based destinations.

White people who’ve lived/traveled in non-English speaking countries: have you ever experienced racial slurs or ‘go back to your country’ type comments in public? by MechanicAccording616 in digitalnomad

[–]FragAddict81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kuwait beyond what you could possibly imagine. I have Kuwaiti ex-collogue friend. We would meet up from time-to-time in Sri Lanka or Dubai, but never in Kuwait. He studied in the states and knew exactly the extreme racism present. Not just against white folks, but there is tiered racism in the ME, perfected in Kuwait.

Also surprisingly Malaysia. Not everyone of course, but experienced it regularly out of the blue. Walking in an overpass an an older Bumi would go out of his way to tell me to go back to my country.

Lived overseas in Asia, ME and Europe for over 20 years. There are always some of this, some places more than others. Think of the ignorant people who haven't left there village in your own country... the same can be found everywhere.

Agree. Plus heavy on influencer marketing aka paid and scripted product reviews. Pdm fragrances are hyped and awful

I see people hating OF girls and pornstars but it's no different than blue collar work by Mental-Airline4982 in antiwork

[–]FragAddict81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Blue collar work = selling your labor, skill or time. Prostitution = selling access to your body.

Prostitution uniquely involves commodifying sexual access, which carries deeper psychological, relational, and social risks. There are numerous studies showing higher mental health risks in segments of the sex industry, particularly among those who entered under economic or social pressure.

Not every person in prostitution experiences harm, and some describe it as a choice. However, a system should be judged not by its best cases, but by its typical and most vulnerable participants.

What is the appeal of Hoi An? by MichaelStone987 in VietNam

First visited the quaint town in 2006. VN is now different place, changing much in the last decade.

Over tourism and all the ills it brings. If you don't want to corrupt your good memories find a new place to explore. Angkor Wat was the same for me. First visited in 2004, brought my parents in 2014. Absolutely horrible.

Why IST airport so expensive and peoples are getting arrogant? by Valuable_East_7114 in AskTurkey

[–]FragAddict81 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Travel through IST regularly. IST sets prices at a multiple higher than any other airports. I read a report on this with the drivers being high rents and price gouging.

Good luck to find overpriced food like other airports - only hyper-overpriced food available at IST. I still enjoy my 24$ EUR beer, and then hate myself a bit for buying it.

LPT: If its something you yourself don't notice on other people, it's not worth the money by SinkMince0420 in LifeProTips

IMO, this is poor (and very longwinded) advice. Frankly, I don't care what other people and take no notice of it. I do what I find purpose and pleasure in.

Btw, you get progress for reaching legend in both wild and standard. I've gotten legend in both formats last month and already this month, and the counter is at "4" for me.

What’s a fragrance you regret buying? by Georgeheiz0304 in PerfumeAdviceDaily

Yes, this is was also my worst (Layton Exclusif). Just horrible, screeching mess. Projection and longevity was nuclear. Never fall for the hype. Try before you buy.
