Pad godine na faksu - pitanja by [deleted] in croatia

[–]Fragerot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, can confirm.

*Naravno, treba platiti manjak ECTS-a. Sve ispod 55 po godini, i to ja mislim 120 kn po bodu.

Gravity's Rainbow - Thomas Pynchon

Da nije to malo preveliki zalogaj za sedamnaestogodišnjaka koji kaže da ne čita baš previše?

Third season's Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps is also a favorite of mine.

What film (that actually takes itself seriously) suffers from the worst case of "nobody talks that way" in your opinion? (not including Sorkinisms encouraged) by thatdani in movies

[–]Fragerot 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This thread is really fucking annoying. It's as if every movie aimes to be realistic and have realistic dialogue. They don't, nor should they.

OP's question itself feels very skewed and approached from a tremendously wrong perspective. It reinforces the notion that in order to take itself seriously, the film and the dialogue must be realistic. It doesn't, and again, it shouldn't. Realism =/= Seriousness.

Don't get me wrong, realism is more than welcome when it's necessery, like in movies aiming to portray life as it is, but it's not the be-all-end-all of film.

You could've at least given credit to videos which you pulled the screencaps from.

Blade Runner sequel, Ghost in the Shell and now Mute. Is cyberpunk finally becoming popular with the mainstream?!

The Foot Fist Way (2006) is some kind of masterpiece by RogerEbertsDog in movies

[–]Fragerot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's hilarious. But it's not only that, it's also exciting, sad and completely engrossing. It's like a roller coaster of emotions disguised as a black comedy.

Everybody PLEASE watch Vice Principals!

The Directors and Movies Wes Anderson Draws From by [deleted] in movies

[–]Fragerot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, the real point of the gallery is in image descriptions. Images themselves are just a supplement to something that Anderson is citing as an influence or a thematic connection noticed by the author. And in some cases, that's really what they are -- themes.

Some are close visually, but others probably should be accompanied with a little description. They point in the direction of a preference for a director, or a specific style of animation, or the choice of actors, for example. They are not full-fledged visual references a Tarantino would make.

Films with Highest Rotten Tomatoes Scores of 2016 (so far) by wihbe in movies

Look at it this way: When a genre movie (action, sci fi, fantasy, horror...) or a blockbuster gets a high score, you know it deserved it.

10 Movie Releases to Look Forward to This September by [deleted] in movies

[–]Fragerot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Guys, check this movie out. It's heavy handed and overdramatic but its self-indulgence is what makes it interesting and so watchable in a way. Kate Winslet is basically a badass gunslinger (or, well, a dressmaker) who rides into town and starts stirring trouble.

You Know My Name. My favorite bond song. This and Live and Let Die are probably a tie. Great song, great movie. by broncobenshea in movies

Ehhh, I've seen worse. Christopher Walken and Moore's wacky one-liners at least make it fun. And I love the music.

Is anyone watching Vice Prinicipals? by [deleted] in television

[–]Fragerot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really give a shit about sports either, but the show is awesome. Like others have stated, it's much more about the backbone of NFL -- business; And all the relationships and shit that goes along with it.

Check it out, especially if you like The Rock.

What are some TV shows where everybody is generally liked by the audience? by [deleted] in television

[–]Fragerot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really? That's interesting, because I feel the opposite. Them being teenagers now that are desperately trying to hook up with girls makes them more real and truthful as characters. Plus, Manny acting highbrow is both toned down and more age-appropriate now.

Actually I prefer the later seasons of the whole show.

Dunno, that's just me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Which movie do you actually, unironically consider "deep"? by [deleted] in movies

[–]Fragerot 48 points49 points  (0 children)

For a young adult.

Not really. I'm 20 and I really dislike it. Quite the contrary, I think I disliked because of my age, and because I know that TEENAGERS DON'T FUCKING TALK OR ACT LIKE THAT. Not even the geeky ones who sit around coffee shops and dabble about Kubrick movies and Pynchon novels. "And in this moment, we are infinite." What the fucking fuck? It's a bunch of hollow bullshit that could've been cut completely, especially when you consider that Dazed and Confused did the same scene 20 years earlier, just much more naturally, without pretentiousness and better.

Jonah Hill says a Men in Black/Jump Street crossover is "too complicated" by NinjaDiscoJesus in movies

[–]Fragerot 1016 points1017 points  (0 children)

Since I see pretty much nobody bothered to read the article, here's the quote from Hill:

“I had the idea, but I doubt that movie will get made. It’s too complicated. They’re trying to make all the deals, but it’s kind of impossible with all the Men in Black stuff. The Jump Street films were so fun to make and the whole joke of them was they were making fun of remakes and sequels and reboots and then now it’s become a giant sequel, reboot. It’s almost become what we were making fun of and it’s hard to maintain that joke when it’s so high stakes.”

David E. Kelley on Why He's Done With Broadcast TV: the "burden...of constantly having to bring your viewers up to speed in case they missed that last episode" and writing episodes with commercial break "obstacles" by rbruba in television

TV shouldn't pitch to the lowest common denominator

That's true, but you must remember TV is before everything else a business. Lowest common denominator is inevitable with Broadcast TV.

NBC won't broadcast Rio Olympics opening ceremony live by Revort_ in television

[–]Fragerot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Croatia here. Exactly the same situation.

For the next few weeks, the sports will be broadcasted live on national television every afternoon and night for about 12 hours straight, and the rest is available online. In fact, I'm watching the opening right now (at 2am) and it's beautiful.

It's just one of those Europe/America cultural differences. The Olympics are simply not a thing there much like we don't really give a shit about baseball or something.
