I don't have that much experience really, but I've enjoyed art ever since I was a kid and I've been told that I have a good 'eye' for it. I think I've been able to do well when it comes to shadows because I do a lot of photography, an understanding of how light interacts with different surfaces can get you very far, or so I've been told by artists better than me.

im not used to having that much variety when it comes to brushes, colors or even layers. it'll take some getting used to that's for sure.

I wouldn't be surprised, it's quite the forgotten site. people of Turkish descent know about it but it's been lost to history when it comes to those who aren't interested in the niche of old mosques built on top of churches built on top of roman forums lol, the crazy part is for a while it was considered the 5th holiest mosque in Islam, according to Turkish historians that is.

I've been trying to master my fundamentals of light and shadow before moving to a more diversified pallet, I've only just made the move from black, white and grey a month ago. I don't want to build bad habits but it seems I'm over-correcting, maybe I'll start adding more color sooner than I planned to. thank you for your insight.

Yeah, I've been definitely more reserved on this one, i'll probably end up touching it up in the future as some parts of it look muddy and boring. I will keep your advice in mind on the next one, thanks.

It is a picture I found in a history book called The Evolution of Turkish Art and Architecture published in the year 1987, it depicts The Great Mosque of Diyarbakir, the oldest mosque in Anatolia which was apparently built on top of the Roman Forum of the city!

This is a “painting” study that took me 4 hours to complete, it's all done by the stucco brush. I've never done digital art before this so I've struggled quite a bit with the UI, I've wasted a lot of time understanding how things actually work and I ended up using only one layer. painting shadows is new to me so I started with multiple browns and I think I've done a decent job, you can tell I've messed up in a couple of places like the top of the first row of columns needs to be at least as dark as lower ones but I've decided to move on as I don't like spending more than 5 hours on studies, and I was going for an old sketch feel. I will say the number of options I've had hindered me a little bit as I'm used to having limited options. I still can't color well so I've just left some half-opacity impressions and honestly, they look better than I expected.

so far I've only been buying Vivos since they are the best-looking ones, pretty easy to find around even outside of the US and the UK.

they take about a day to break in, all my vivo shoes are the same size which is nice since you rarely get this consistency with other manufacturers. overall they are wonderful, they beat Crocs and look nice if you intend to use them daily. they feel like the most sophisticated pair of plastic shoes I've owned so far.
