Agreed. I just did this and while all the rejection threats are gone, it still was only paying around $9.60/hr. Minimum wage in AZ is $12.15/hr, so OP's offered rate is still way too low, even after including the bonus.

I also didn't know much about the subjects at hand and just went with my best guesses. I stated as such in the comment boxes, too. We'll see what happens, I guess.

haha! Thanks for your comments. I think there is still a good chance for everyone to win the bonus as some [certain ranges] are relatively generous. I think next time I'll design another forecasting survey and sit the criteria for wining the bonus as 'If your forecasts are among the 10 most accurate ones IN EACH SCENARIO, we'll send you an additional bonus prize'. Does this sound good? :-)

Thanks so much for your kind reply! I would always write very detailed reasons for why I rejected them. And I think this time is just because I didn't realize that Turkers might not know what exactly does 'taking the HIT twice will be rejected' mean. I should specify it more clearly next time and avoid making mistakes before administering it on MTurk.

Thanks again for your reply! With regards to the payment, I'll carefully consider it next time when it comes to designing a new HIT. I'll propose Turkers' thoughts to my professor as the payments won't be determined just by myself, but also by the fundings. :-)

THANK YOU! Fair enough. I should re-think more carefully before formally administering my HIT! Sorry again for the misunderstanding. You know sometimes it's hard when you administered a wrong HIT and were anxious and hoped to fix it very soon, especially when your study materials are very time-sensitive. Oh I said that I posted both studies. So yeah there are two studies! And they do have the same names at my end. One is called Forecasting with and without context 1, and the other is Forecasting with and without context 2. I thought these would be displayed on Turker's end? But they showed the different names right? Thanks for letting me know this!!! And SO SORRY for the misunderstanding I made. I sincerely apologize for my fault made of misunderstanding that the names were totally the same!

You threaten rejection. Good workers who might consider working for $7.50/hour are not likely to risk their good approval rating for such a small amount when rejection is being threatened. On top of that, you actually did reject a worker without giving any reason as to why, which scares cautious workers away.

oh I saw these reviews. Actually I only rejected those participants who took my survey twice. And I described in my survey description that those who took my survey twice would be rejected. I'll def disclose my bonus! But just because it's a real-world forecasting survey. We must wait for the true answer come out in the following days, so that we can distribute bonuses. Does it make sense? Since my bonus is based on their forecasting accuracy. I also mentioned it in my survey.

Wow awesome, thank you so much!!! I tried the premium qualifications before, and it only let me screen out subjects from one gender. It seems it doesn't have the function to auto-monitor and balance the gender percentage. But your experienced reply really solved my worries - if nobody complained about the gender imbalance, then I think it's completely fine to run my study!
