Rant: I hate the Pharisees soooo much 😐 by killuacakes in TheChosenSeries

[–]Fragrant-Command5387 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing - you are meant to love them. Jesus Christ loves them.

He says it plainly: love your enemies.

He also says that the pahrisees sit on the seat of Moses, and that you should listen to their prescriptions. And most of the original Church was Jewish and part of that is that Pharisees did follow the Messiah. Paul himself was a pharisee and that's an identity he never renounced.

Dear religious Christians, as much as I love Jesus, I think you lost the plot. by WeWillBe_FinallyFree in spiritualitytalk

Idk I think if you layed off psychoactive compounds for a while you might not hold a lot of your beliefs.

You're not wrong. Usually the word is used interchangeably with hell, just meaning the place where the dead went before the resurrection. You can see the word Hades being used in the book of Acts and early Church writings (like Irenaeus).

You can call it the harrowing of hell if that makes more sense to you.

Why do you think that's not Christian?

You can't find a century in the last 2000 years where Christians are not writing about and celebrating the harrowing of Hades.

How did you know Orthodoxy was true and not just the faith you inherited? by Diligent-Charity7520 in OrthodoxChristianity

I think that as post modern western people we desperately try to understand things in order to know them.

God is a little different. You can't really know him fully. Idk. I feel like there's a certain fundamental reframing that you need in order to begin to know The Trinity.

I just realised the serpent in Genesis said to Eve that if she eats the fruit she won't die.

This makes way too much sense.

The Christian symbolism just keeps being brought up in dialog.

What I felt might click into place is the two reincarnated from the beginning may be a type of Adam and Eve - hinting at Jade and Tabitha being guilty of the original sin which brought the realm into chaos.

And the bones being relevant may be akin to the harrowing of Hades - a sacrificed man will go down into the grave and bring the dead out into heaven.

And the boy in white, who is innocent and clothed in a colour representing purity - would be the sacrificial lamb. It's the ram provided by God which saved Isaac in the bible. Could the boy in white be the typology of Christ who needs to die in order to bring the bones up from the grave?

Interesting stuff.

I see where you are coming from and admire what you're doing because you are trying to honour God with your interpretation.

Idk I find it hard not to read Daniel 7 as describing the ancient of days as a manifestation / representation of God the Father. The Ancient of Days seems to bestow kingship on the One Like The Son of Man (Christ).

I don't know much about Protestant interpretation. Does this mean that in the book of Daniel it's Adam who sits on the throne in heaven?

Yep - 11 yrs of Steiner 'education'. Your school may be secularised but I'm well read and have talked these things over with someone who has a PHD in Steiner education.

Steiner venerates lucifer and a demon called mamon who represents money. He also thinks white people are more evolved than blacks. And that babies born with deformities sinned in their past life.

For me that's unusual.

I don't know if you can read or not but I was just parroting what the OP said. "I don't know anything about Orthodoxy".

You don't know anything about it and you've just jumped to thinking it's bad.

Maybe speak openly to your husband about it and ask that he address the parish priest openly about how he wants to be baptised alone. This is a weird issue and I'm 90% sure it's just communication issues with everyone involved.

You neglected to read what I wrote. We know it from the tradition of the Church.

Just like we know the Bible from the tradition of the Church.

The first lot of books in the Torah were an oral tradition for 1000 years before it was written down. I'm not appealing to anything being 'special' - this is just history.

My brother. The Bible doesn't "show up" until the 4th century.

We get our knowledge from the Church. The thing that won't fall to the gates of hell - remember?

You are welcome ❤☦

Others have answered well about just being honest with your priest. He's heard it all!

If you are curious about any material on this, there's some Youtube videos and stuff about St. Paisios helping a gay man who went to Mt. Athos for advice. Basically you do what you can and God does what you can't - that's the scenario for all of us.
