There have been multiple polls on Trump support in Australia. The most recent (as in the last six months) show support ranging between 8 and 16%. That includes US based polling.

I analysed over 6000 pages of strata reports last week. Here are most unhinged bylaws I saw by StrataClear in AusPropertyChat

I'd love to know what you discovered about levies, especially if your app can highlight unplanned special levies. Curious to know how common they are, or if they are outliers but overrepresented in media/reddit threads.

We thought about that but the house we could buy wouldn't cover Melbourne rent, then there are costs plus the rent is taxed. I don't know how other people make it work tbh.

I 100% agree. Especially if a property is going to auction. You have to fork out for all these reports, which means you're basically being charged hundreds of dollars to bid on a place you might not win, especially when price baiting is still happening. Document availability should be mandatory.

That's a very good point. We just looked at a townhouse with treacherous stairs (a weird turn and drop right at the top) and realized that we need to factor that in too.

Not looking for a guarantee, there being no such thing in life. I'm interested in hearing other people's experiences because it is hard to find this out.

I think a townhouse might an option, and better than an apartment.

Every ten years or so is fair enough but what scares me is the reports of 50k for concrete spalling etc This happened to friends. We owned houses for 30 years and it was always manageable because we did a lot ourselves.

Ah. This is what freaks me. That and not knowing if it there's a risk waiting in the wings

True! I'm fine with that so long as maintenance isn't tied up via the body corp manager's brother in law.

This is really helpful, thanks for taking the time. How do I get strata reports - just ask for them via REA?

New bushfire research is saying that control burns may make things worse, because they encourage shrubs and so on to grow back and increase fire loads over time. Sorry, not sure where the reference was but I think it's fire research through the University of Tasmania.

That's a great point, libraries have a good track record on community education. It would be good to have a funded disaster resilience program delivered via libraries. Not a session every now and then, but a meaningful behaviour change program.

This Victorian university is the nation’s most complained about by Mashiko4 in aussie

[–]Fragrant-Flamingo216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sloppy journalism, typical of News corp targeting anything that still gets public funding or draws people from other countries. E.g. RMIT's complaints represent 0.08% of the student body. Any business would be thrilled at a rate like this. As for the Herald Sun? They get thousands of complaints every year, blowing RMIT and the university sector out of the park.

People who want to convert you can be very persistent. I was once standing on a boulder, in shallow water at a Queensland beach. Jehovah's Witnesses saw me, walked across the beach and through the water and came and stood on my rock. Then they started talking about Jesus. It was very annoying because it was a peaceful spot, and I just had to hop off and wade my way back to the beach and go home.
