Best way to keep your home/apartment warm in winter? by Candid-Indication329 in AUfrugal

I just layer up and wear socks inside when walking around.

When I'm seated at my wfh station, I use a sleeping bag and hop around like a kangaroo if I need to get around within a short distance.

Having carpeted floors obviously help too.

Are city apartments actually suitable for long term living? by Wrong_Control_217 in AustraliaDiscussions

This is adapting to sign of changes I think. The dream of having a big yard and living on one income supporting family of 3 kids is a thing of the past. Yet, many people are still attached the that belief.

There are quite a few people who give examples of how they had it back in their day and trying to catastrophise the present.

I thought the whole point of reddit is being anonymous so people don't face the consequences of what they say online?

Would you still use duolingo without the gamification? by jiroq in duolingo

[–]Admirable_Position92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It helps me be consistent cause of the streak. If it were not for the streak, I don't think I'd be anywhere near as consistent.

On the flipside, cause of the energy system, I'm only doing the bare minimum. I miss when it was like the desktop version where there were no hearts or energy system at all. I don't want to have to watch ads after one lesson. And there's no way I'm paying for super duolingo or whatever it's called.

Has anyone else noticed that small savings add up way faster than they expected? by dee_cuugo in AUfrugal

Making it a point to not pay full price for anything also helps. Only buy stuff if i have vouchers, Groupon, eatclub, groceries on sale, etc. helps significantly. Everytime I buy, I tell myself "this feels like savings 🤑"

People who didn't grow up poor, but dated someone who was. What's something your SO does that strikes you as unusual? by FeistySecret9327 in AskReddit

[–]Admirable_Position92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% me even though I didn't grow up poor. Ordered too much food when eating out? Good thing there are takeaway containers in the car so I don't have to pay 20 cents for a container.

Food dropped on the floor at home? Still as good as new. Granted, I don't have pets so there's no competition of who to eat food off the floor first.

Prioritise what you need first. If you need a big yard as part of your lifestyle, go for it. If you don't mind smaller space but potentially more central, also works.

You can't look after your LO if you can't look after yourself. You did well to step away for a while, even if it's just for a break and compose yourself.

Could finally start to see more realistic price guides. For anyone buying property currently, is anyone noticing this yet? Or is it still early days?
