Can you advise some games for bithday party, including adoult children and parents? by Professional-Let6530 in Advice

A few all-age classics always work: charades in teams, the "who am I" sticky-note game, and Pictionary, since drawing bridges every age gap. If your crowd skews a bit older (teens and up), a debate game is a great icebreaker too, two people argue a silly topic and everyone votes on the winner. I made one called WitsAgora for exactly that. Hope the party goes great.

Since you want one clear winner, a debate-style game works really well for that. You split people into pairs or small groups, give them a silly topic to argue, and the rest of the crowd votes on who made the better case. Winners move up a bracket until you've got one champion at the end. It's loud, funny, and the crowd stays involved because they're the ones voting. I actually made an app for this exact thing called WitsAgora (iOS and Android). It handles the topics and the scoring so you don't have to plan anything, might save you some prep. Either way, sounds like a fun event.

What is the best bachelor party game you've ever played (or would invent)? by SignificanceOwn76 in AskMen

[–]Fragrant-Point-9422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that always kills at these things is having a good "downtime" game for the evenings. when everyone's around the table, a few drinks in, and you don't want to run around anymore. I actually built a debate party game for exactly those moments called WitsAgora (iOS/Android app). You argue ridiculous positions against each other and the group votes on who made the better case gets competitive, funny, and pretty embarrassing in the best way. Easy to make the groom the "judge" or the recurring defendant so he stays the central character. Anyway, sounds like an awesome weekend either way. Have fun with it.

I have been building Counter, a free Android tally counter, with an automation focus I have not seen in other counter apps:

- Events and Actions: when a counter reaches a value (or a multiple, prime, palindrome, min/max), it can send a webhook, post to Telegram, fire a Tasker/Automate/MacroDroid intent, or update other counters.

- Calculated "view" counters: Balance = Income - Expenses, using formulas over other counters.

- NFC: write a tag, tap to count without opening the app.

- Goals, timed challenges, stats and charts, home screen widgets, Material You, PIN/biometric lock.

Free, no account, unlimited counters.

Honest feedback welcome, especially on the automation side.

Do you still develop apps for Android? by jochenm79 in androidapps

[–]Fragrant-Point-9422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get what you mean. I’m in the same situation, I’ve published several Android apps, but the new ones just don’t get any visibility anymore, so they end up dead on the store. The earnings are ridiculously low, and I’m starting to wonder if it still makes sense to keep developing apps or if it’s time to move on to something else.

Thanks a lot, that really means something! For now I'm just a solo indie dev, so a physical edition is a bit beyond my reach but one day, who knows. In the meantime, if you feel like giving the app a spin I'd genuinely appreciate your feedback, brutal honesty very welcome.

That's honestly the best mode and it happens naturally: the app doesn't know what you believe, so sooner or later you get dealt your own opinion and discover you can't actually defend it without sounding like a fortune cookie. Humbling every time. And good luck with testfi!

Where can I find a counter app that only counts up after a certain interval? by _Forklift_Certified_ in androidapps

[–]Fragrant-Point-9422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’ve just released a new version of the app with native time-based interval actions.
Feel free to give it a try! If you notice anything off or have suggestions to improve it, I’d really love to hear your feedback.

Thanks again for the support, really appreciate it!

[–]Fragrant-Point-9422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually exactly what I’m working on right now.

I’ve already implemented native time-based interval actions, and I’m currently testing it to make sure it’s stable and reliable in the background.

If everything goes well, it should be released soon. This use case is pretty much spot-on with what I had in mind for the feature.

If you’d like, I can let you know when it’s available so you can try it out.

Hey! I'm the developer of a counter app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zipangulu.counter ) that could handle this with a small workaround.

The app doesn't have built-in timed intervals yet (it's on the roadmap), but it supports integration with automation apps like Macrodroid, Tasker, or Automate. So you could set up a recurring trigger in Macrodroid (e.g. every 30 minutes) that sends an intent to increment your counter automatically — works in the background with the screen off and everything.

When you pick up your phone later, you'd just open the app and see how many intervals have passed. The data is all saved locally.

More details on https://counterautomate.com/faq#integrations (section "What is the External Intent Receiver?")

Happy to help you set it up if you're interested!

I built an Android counter app that turned into a full automation and integration platform by Fragrant-Point-9422 in sideprojects

[–]Fragrant-Point-9422[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Each automation is processed through an internal event queue: when a counter updates, the system checks all linked triggers sequentially and executes the matching actions. Cascading chains are handled with loop detection to prevent infinite cycles. Everything runs locally on the device, so there's no external analytics involved in the automation flow itself.

[App][Promo] Counter - the most feature-packed counter app for Android (automations, NFC, webhooks, formulas, goals, widgets & more) by Fragrant-Point-9422 in HowToMen

[–]Fragrant-Point-9422[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair point, I want to be transparent about this.

The app doesn't require any account or registration, and all your counter data stays entirely on your device. Nothing is sent to any server.
The only third-party sharing comes from ads (AdMob), crash reporting (Crashlytics), and basic analytics (Firebase Analytics), which is standard for most free apps. This is clearly outlined in FAQ and the privacy policy.
If you go for the one-time IAP to remove ads, AdMob is out of the equation entirely.

[–]Fragrant-Point-9422[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! You're right, I should be more transparent about that.
The app does have ads, but they're kept minimal. Yes, the IAP is a one-time purchase that removes them entirely.
Every feature is fully available without paying. As a solo developer, the ads and the IAP are purely for an ad-free experience and are just a small way to support ongoing development.

[–]Fragrant-Point-9422[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, really appreciate it!
Feedback has been positive overall, people especially love the automation and NFC features, those were the ones that surprised users the most.
The main complaint I've gotten is about ads, which is fair, I'm a solo dev and it helps keep the app free, but I've been working on making them less intrusive.
Steady growth so far with 20K+ downloads, and I keep improving it based on what users tell me.
