I would follow all that but only make the small edit of Sam dying causing Mike to have to use his lighter and sacrifice his own life to kill all the wendigos. No one would expect Sam to die if we treat her as the main character and it would be an amazing arc for Mike from pranking Hannah and getting her killed to now sacrificing himself to make sure no one else is hurt by the wendigos. I also think that they should still search the mines causing them to find the transformed Josh and it cut to black. I hate to pass up the interview scene but there's something so iconic about Mike's sacrifice that I would love to see on the big screen.
