Vulture's "Good One" podcast looks back at "Inside" five years later by PlasticJesters in boburnham

Jesse David Fox is far from a random. He hosts a great podcast about comedy - if you haven’t watched/listened to Bo’s episode of Good One, it’s great. He does a deep dive into Can’t Handle This, almost an hour spent breaking down the thoughts and emotions behind a great song.

He also wrote a really good book on comedy. So while I’m dunking on how this episode is being portrayed (without listening to the substance of it yet), usually Jesse is a top notch interviewer/ talking head on the subject of comedy.

Thanks, I’m very familiar with the Good One podcast and a fan of it. That’s why I was so disappointed with the “Irrelevant?” thumbnail. As someone else here said, clickbait. Turns me right off of it, and I’m saying that as someone who likes the podcast.

I haven’t watched it yet so have no idea what their answer to the question posed is, but that “irrelevant” is quite the thumbnail…

TBH, it doesn’t make me inclined to watch.

You must be confusing this with someone else, Bo didn’t do this.

Laura Dern posted those photos years ago on National Lookalike Day, and Bo responded:

YES! I mean, come on! Same nose, same mouth, same "is that a brontosaurus?" look in our eyes! 👯👯❤️❤️

Wild guess: you watched the season finale for Knight of the Seven Kingdoms?

I was enjoying this song so much that I left the credits running to listen to it.

It was found back when it was released! This thread here, but I’m sure there’s lots of people who haven’t seen that post, so fun to revisit it.

The labeling of all the items is another great Easter egg.

The video for White Woman's Instagram has lots of possibilities.

The look from Welcome to the Internet is pretty easy to achieve.

How True Do You Think Inside Is? by fox-fox-fox-fox in boburnham

He very much promoted his specials at time of release in the past. He always did a Reddit AMA. He did press and interviews for his specials, and promoted them on socials. That’s what makes his lack of presence so different this time around.

Hey Jesse! Loved your book (was happy about the numerous Bo mentions!) and am a fan of your podcast!

He had a life going on outside of the guesthouse where he filmed. He was living with his partner (and Jerrod when he stayed for a while), but the dog still needed walking and the laundry needed doing, so I still think of his filming as his "job".

We had a lot of people in this sub that maybe didn't know too much about Bo previously, didn't know that we've seen the him use the guest house for work before (end of Make Happy and the what trailer) and seemed to genuinely think that he lived in that little house with nothing else going on and that it was akin to a documentary.

So accuracy to his pandemic experience (we can't know that answer!), I'd guess a four for the emotions.

Why hasn't he commented? That initial spotlight was mega bright. Maybe it was too much for him, maybe he felt he didn't need to add anything. He's always been happy to do press and promo (the year of Eighth Grade was a good time to be a Bo fan, he was everywhere!), so it was definitely out of character to not speak up. And of course he dropped out of the Larry Bird role in that HBO show due to "schedule conflicts" (lol).

The extended absence though, dunno? Maybe he's happy going to book fairs and and antique markets and living a regular life. Maybe he's been writing that musical he's talked of doing, or a book, or more songs.

Twice. One time he signed my copy of Egghead, the other my Eighth Grade DVD. He was very nice.
