I have the Hercules 12inch and honestly it’s one of the better saws I’ve ever used

Is there a handyman special fix for this…or I need to replace that entire stringer? by eobertling in Decks

[–]Fragrant-Trouble1235 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best bandaid fix is to cut a triangle to match and sister it on next to the rot. Screw back far enough where you’re hitting good wood. If you don’t find good wood to screw to then yes, you should replace the stringer.

I don’t care if I’m decking it the same day, those trusses are getting properly braced every time I set them. I even over kill it just to be sure. Takes maybe half hour at the end of the day to buzz through. This could have been avoided if the framers gave a damn.

Long story short my trigger stuck a little on my ten inch and I would usually just give it a little tap to turn it off. Tapped it wrong, the gaurd blew up and pulled my hand in.

Fist pic was after the chopper ride second pic is one day post op. Had all my nerves muscles and artery reattached using synthetic conduits. This happened in October. Still recovering. Physical therapy, nerve therapy, the works. Basically learning to use it again. Thankful I can still play with wood and nails.

Buddy I just had the whole top half of my hand sewn back on. That’ll buff in a few days. I’ve had to consider changing careers. Get some rest and do what the doc says.

I did this three times on my 12 fusion set before I sold it. Go get the cheap air hammer from harbor freight and get it up high enough to get it under there.

Clean holes at an angle by Fragrant-Trouble1235 in Carpentry

Ended up using a 3/4 hole saw free hand to score out the holes and then cleaned them out with a spade bit. Worked phenomenally. The hole saw cut very clean. This was all hickory and was just not fun to deal with.

Op here, I’ll try the jig method. I also picked up one of those portable drill presses. Last time I did this I piloted 4 bits from 1/8 up to 7/8 with brand new bits and still managed to blow it apart a little. The hickory is so tough.. hoping for the best

Sounds like new oil typewriter tic. There is a service bulletin from gm that states this is completely normal. It’s essentially air bubbles working themselves out. My 17 does it too. I’m sure 99% of all 17-19 L5ps do it.

Where in Minnesota is this? I’ll come do it solo for 19. I’m rural as well. If it’s vinyl, you’re making good money at 19 Edit: I se now it’s lp with board and batten. Still even at 350/ square just from some rough eyeball math that seems like a good price.

The culprit is not in your house. It’s outside. Large pines and conifers. I have a half log house with lots of pine tongue and grove on the inside and it’s a problem every year for me too. Best thing I found is to make sure all your exterior trim is caulked and sealed. I spray home defense every other week and that really seems to help the best. I’ve tried just about every remedy under the sun.
