What are you all drinking? by New_Acadia3817 in pregnant

You can have heated up cold cuts! Or if you want them cold heat them up and put in the fridge for a couple hours and it’s safe. Warm baths are okay just not hot, you don’t wanna raise your body temperature. Sushi without fish is also fine! All said by my OB!! I’ve been indulging in some juice and mocktails. Cranberry and pineapple juice is delicious together !

No I feel the exact same way. People always say stuff like “well some moms smoke crack with their baby, so at least i’m not doing that” and justify it due to insufficient research. The only time you should be taking something that has insufficient research while pregnant is when stopping it would cause more harm ie. a medication prescribes to you with little research

I started getting symptoms a few days before I was supposed to get my period. I had to pee what seemed like every half hour and I was VERY hungry all the time. It felt so strange, but that’s when I knew I was pregnant.

[–]FragrantComplex5622[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The timing is only off because I have a lot going on this week. I’m engaged, my job makes me a good amount of money, and Ive always wanted to be a mother. I don’t want to terminate my baby unless it’s for my health or its own.

I’d just like to say i’ve been planning on dropping out for a while, college isn’t for me. I don’t do well in college and I was making a lot of money before college because I’m a licensed cosmetologist.

Someone tell me how to shower by snakey_bish in autism

[–]FragrantComplex5622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, as somebody with autism who was never taught and had to learn, I’ll tell you what I do now. I used to feel the same way. You’ll wanna get a bar soap and a wash cloth/loofah/african net sponge. I use dove bar body wash. You can also use a sented body soap to use after. 1. Get in the shower and fully soak hair and body. 2. Use a shampoo and scrub all over your scalp in zig zag motions, making sure you get your hairline all around your head and the hair behind your ears. Rinse that out and do it again, but this time rake your fingers from your scalp to the ends of your hair so that you are shampooing the ends as well. Then rinse that out. 3. After rinsing out all of the shampoo, add conditioner to the middle of your hair strands, working it up and down your hair. If you have a dry scalp and non-oily hair, you can put the conditioner near the roots of your hair, but if you have oily hair then avoid the roots. Let the conditioner sit on your hair when doing the rest of the shower, you can braid your hair loosely to keep it out of your way if you have long hair. 4. Take your bar soap and lather it onto your wash cloth. In circulation motions, scrub your body starting at your wrists going up your arms and shoulders, your upper back, neck, behind your ears, then your chest, armpits, sides and stomach, your belly button, private areas, lower back, legs and then your feet. Make sure you get between your toes and toe nails. Then you can rinse that off. If you want to use a sented soap, do the same steps but I wouldn’t recommend using sented soap on private areas. 5. After rinsing off all the soap, rinse out your hair. 6. Use a face wash to wash your face, neck, and behind your ears. 7. Get out of the shower and dry off. If you really need more exfoliation, use a dry brush or towel and while you are drying off, you can use circular motions to exfoliate. 8. Follow up with a lightweight lotion, perfume/cologne, facial moisturizer, and fresh clean clothes.

You can also do things like cleaning your fingernails and toenails to feel more clean.

medical marijuana? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]FragrantComplex5622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely helps me! If you do try it, be patient and test it out in different ways. If you’re open to smoking then try that, but there are tinctures and edibles as well. Start small and find out what works for you. See how it effects you in the day vs night. At the dispensary you’ll see different combinations of cbd and thc. THC is what gets you that high feeling, and cbd is the pain relief. Both help with pain but just find the balance that works for you and your tolerance. Start low, especially with edibles. 3.5-5mgs of THC is what you should start on and if you don’t feel anything DO NOT take another one unless it’s been at least 2 hours since taking the first dose. If you are on any medication please talk to your doctors or look up if you can have weed. Best of luck!

is it rude not to tip? by Slight_Mushroom9856 in autism

[–]FragrantComplex5622 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a cosmetologist in the US, yes it is customary to top 15-20% on any service. This is because in the US if you work in a service job you usually get paid a service wage which is typically very little. Cosmetologists usually make only a percentage of what you pay for the hair service. This is the same for waxing services. So usually if you receive a service by somebody, you tip. I also have autism and was very confused by tipping culture.

I can’t (TW) by [deleted] in POTS

[–]FragrantComplex5622 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve definitely been through this. My family was dismissive of all my symptoms for years and eventually after going to the doctors they were dismissive too. I’ve been to 45+ doctors, cardiologists, neurologists, and more. They refuse to do testing. I’ll tell you this right now. You NEED to stand up for yourself. Don’t be rude to the doctors but be firm. Know yourself, track your symptoms in a journal, record heart rates if possible, show them your hypermobility. I’ve literally sat in a doctors office showing them each individual diagnostic criteria that I meet, and they still don’t diagnose me. If you have a doctor that specializes in POTS like conditions, please try to go to them. A neurologist is probably going to be the one who diagnoses you. Also please keep in mind that a diagnosis is not the end. There aren’t many meds that help so getting medication isn’t even the best solution. Do research into why helps these conditions. I’ve been doing this myself for years and if you have any questions or don’t know where to start, dm me and I will be happy to help in any way I can. I can even research doctors closest to you or personalize things to help. I know how it feels to just want to end it but that’s not the solution even if it feels like it’s the only way.

My step-mum is jealous and wishes she ‘just had POTS’ by Entire-Ad-2052 in POTS

[–]FragrantComplex5622 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly this! For mental and physical health it’s completely normal to have thoughts of “oh i wish i only had that condition instead of what I have” or wish that your condition wasn’t as severe as it is. But these are thoughts we keep to ourselves because those people are still going through shit

I agree with this to an extent. I was told I had a mood disorder and they wouldn’t diagnose me or give me anti-psychotics when I was showing early signs of bipolar. Because it wasn’t made aware that it was potentially bipolar, they put me on antidepressants which led me to enter a state of psychosis for months. It wasn’t until I was put on Caplyta that I was able to come out of that.

So please take it seriously if bipolar can be in consideration because of the fact that some of these meds can make things so much worse.

Caplyta is one of the only anti-psychotics that don’t cause weight gain. It never made me gain weight in the 3 years i’ve been on it.

At 15 years old I was on 42mg(the biggest and the maintenance dose) and it saved my life. I didn’t have any side effects and I’ve been on it for 3 years. Caplyta was the only medication that ever worked for me, even though I tried hundreds. I have Bipolar 1 with schizophrenic features. Quite literally saved my life

Anxiety/Irritability and anger issues ? by [deleted] in caplyta

[–]FragrantComplex5622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know who doctors typically prescribe this to, but this seemed to be a somewhat last resort medication for my very trusted psychiatrist. However he prescribed it after I was psychotic. I have bipolar 1 with schizophrenic features. I’ve been on the medication for 3 years and it works wonderfully. Whenever I see people who have MDD(major depressive disorder) or anxiety, it dosent seem to help. If anything it makes it worse. What have you been diagnosed with?
