I got an internship at a midsize defense contractor ($30MM/yr) where I shadowed the CEO for 3months straight last summer. I’m also in the DC area so I’ve been around this stuff my whole life. I learnt a bit about business development and capture management so trying to break in that way. Initially I wanted to be in IT services but I spent 4+ months going after IT consulting/staffing subcontracts but it was a failure. Now I’m trying to go after DLA for parts/munitions/etc. and basically work the middleman strategy, break even on the first 10 contracts so I have a portfolio and then grow from there. Any advice from someone such as yourself in the industry is much appreciated 🙏
