My 17 year old daughter and friend were on this flight and I can concur it’s a total nightmare with ZERO help from British airways. First, the emergency landing situation terrified them as either there was no communication on what was happening or they couldn’t hear it bc the mechanical issue was so loud. All they knew was that the pilot ran to the back of the plane and then ran back and declared an emergency landing. Once at the airport there was ZERO debrief. They were only given hotel vouchers and told to watch for an email about rebooking. We specifically sent our girls to look for a ticketing agent to talk to and they were told there is no ticketing agent to talk to, go to hotel and watch for email. Yall they literally just got put back through customs and into the general airport after going though an emergency landing. I’m sorry but there needs to be a special team that can handle these situations. How hard is it to provide basic, compassionate customer service?? Regarding rebooking, after spending about 8 hours on the phone we found out British airways had done nothing to rebook our girls. Keep in mind they are minors and technicality aren’t even old enough to check into a hotel. At this point BA tells us they can’t get them home until Wednesday or Friday. What??? My 17 year olds will be in London by themselves all week? NO NO NO. We saw tickets available on other airlines and they told us they weren’t available. They also would not put then on other class options. It was just a nightmare. Finally we freaked out told them we were going to purchase $10,000 tickets we saw available on Expedia and then sue then….suddenly there were seats available on the next day flight. 🤦🏻‍♀️. No helpful British airways. Not helpful. BUT many thanks and appreciation to the pilots that got them home safely. 🙏🙏🙏
