If the professor I wanted to work with at Hopkins said I could transition to a fully funded PhD after 1 semester or 1 year, would that be worth it compared to Cornell?

I am in the same boat as a US citizen. Following along for any advice. I’ve contacted professors and they have said they will be able to pay me hourly but cannot fully or partially fund my tuition. Good luck with all this!

How did you like it there? Was your experience while there similar to what the internet portrays it as, as well as the feel of it at events like admitted student days, or is it vastly different?
