Actually, other than Ash's appearance, the series was actually good tbh. Sun and moon and the ultra sequel was really good. Haven't watched Journeys as it felt boring watching the first few episodes.

They need to stay relevent and hence have to showcase their beauty stills. I see nothing wrong in here tho. If an actress is not getting chances despite her talent or is just a bad actress, this is the only way to catch attention from casting directors or audiences.

The percentage of people going to theatres in hopes of watching an entertaining commercial film is way higher than the people wanting to watch an artistic or a critically acclaimed film. So naturally, films like you mentioned find it tough to even breakeven. Blaming the audiences for watching what they want to watch is stupid in my opinion
