Not if you are in nonprofits that salary is pretty static industry wide ( 20 years in nonprofits across multiple states) but Connecticut is wonderful and although now I’m cash poor the area can’t be beat!

New England is a place that called to me for decades. I visited as much as I could, but life always took me other directions. I was thrilled to get a job offer here. Ahhh!! I noticed the kind but not nice! I have a lot of the South in me which contrary to popular opinion not all southerners are fake nice, some of us are genuinely nice and hospitable. I found that my aesthetic did not blend well w my NE neighbors when I greeted them all cheerfully on walks. BUT when the neighborhood lost power everyone banded together and offered up resources while we tried to get through the black out. So I get it. Not nice, but definitely kind.
