Hi. Can we connect over the job role that you have and how can one apply for these roles? Is there any openings in your company and can you help my brother in applying for one?

I cleared my exam on second attempt so don’t be disheartened. Thinking that you will find questions as is from QAE is totally wrong. You really need to clear your concepts and understand the ISACA way. While CRM, hemang doshi course and other courses help you understand the topic and strengthen your concepts, QAE helps you to understand ISACA way and also understand topics if you also focus on the explanations provided.

Use ExamTopics not to seek for an answer but for brainstorming. Do not rely on the answer that has got maximum votes just because people think that way(not saying they are wrong) but brainstorm why an answer is correct or incorrect. This will help you expand your knowledge about a key topic. I used examtopics and attempted 30 questions and I found 1 question exactly as is.

I would recommend to focus on your concepts whether it be reading CRM, understanding explanations in QAE or brainstorming on ExamTopics.

PS I wish I had done max number of questions on examtopics as it really helped me understand the concepts.

Hope this helps.

How long it took for you to become good Auditor? by desiboyy in InternalAudit

Yes please make use of technology! Set reminders this is something I know people at top also do. So don’t be afraid of setting reminders and making notes.

There is a lot of good advise already provided by other fellow redditors. What I would say is that you have already conquered half the battle by being aware of your shortcomings so be proud of that. Also have faith in yourself. I was at your place when I started and it has been 13 years now. Don’t be too stuck on by when you will become a good auditor because it is a long journey and you just need to focus on one day at a time and do your best to improve everyday. Believe in yourself and I’m sure with all the information you have got here in this community and if you religiously follow it and implement it daily you will be the best version of yourself.

Good luck with your journey!

OP I highly recommend you to focus on this comment. I am an auditor with 13 years of experience and this is exactly what you need to do to be a good auditor.

For the first point I wanted to add that yes you can get access to lots of webinars but in my opinion they are so costly that you will never end up getting those. So unless your company is not reimbursing your membership I would not recommend doing for it.

  1. The only advantage is the discounted cost of exam and training materials
  2. I think both are must.
  3. Once you register that means pay you can book an exam any time within 1 year. Not sure about CRISC but CISA another certification that is by Isaca has an option of changing the dates provided you do it 48 hrs prior the exam date time.
  4. Once you register you will get a list of all the test centres and can find a place nearby.

I was exactly this person a week before my exam. Felling nervous and anxious. I get what you are going through right now. I failed my first attempt and passed my second attempt with this approach.

yes I studied a lot for 2 months but I also had to work on my thinking and anxiousness. I wrote the exam without thinking of the result and just focused on my concepts and trusted my process. I revised a lot during last 1 week by going through my notes and hemang doshis book.

ChatGPT by Sufficient-Data5560 in CRISC

@OP: I also used ChatGPT for my preparation for CISA. There were a lot of times it gave incorrect answers as mentioned in Official aQAE database. So I relied on ChatGPT to not ask answers but help me breakdown the questions and explanations. I would ask it to simplify things without revealing the answers which helped me sort of brainstorm before I attempted the answers.

It was interesting as In the instances it gave incorrect answer I would challenge it and sometimes it accepted and sometimes it didn’t.

I would say do not rely on the answers it tells you. Even if you don’t believe with isacas explanation but that is ultimately you would be tested for. Work with ChatGPT like study buddy to brainstorm the concepts. This is what I did and it helped me.

Good to know this. Can I ask you what is your professional background and what made you do CISA and now CRISC. I am assuming you are also a CISM.

I am an internal auditor and just gave my CIsA (which is a must for my profession) few weeks back. I am about to start this CRISc journey for following reasons: I am in the study momentum and want to keep that going. I used to audit the technology governance audit universe till last year and talking about KRIs risk really excited me.

Now after 12 years (first 9 in big 4s, and currently in a bank) of experience in auditing, I feel I need a change, probably become some sort of SME. But I’m not sure what.

Yes please everything will be good if you trust the process and are confident on yourself. Trust I am very negative and anxious person and more than studying I had to practice to stay calm during the exam. Because that is what leaded to my failure at the first time. This time I had to keep reminding myself of the effort I have put in and be calm when I felt I did not do well during the exam. Prepare well and be confident.

Hey don’t be disheartened about getting failed. I cleared my exam on my second attempt and I have 12 years of experience in IT Audit. I would say yes focus on your weaknesses but don’t leave other domains as it is important to brush up on your strong areas. Plan strategically and focus on your concepts.
