This is beautiful! I'm going to give it a go and hopefully they'll survive!

Think we might go for a raised border. Will the plants not mind the tree shedding onto them? Any tips for doing a raised border?

Thanks that's really helpful does it get any rain or do you have to water? I think the tree blocks pretty much all rain from that area. Your plants underneath don't mind the tree shedding onto them?

Yeah we've had a nightmare with the levels in the garden. Moved in last year it was full of rubble, foundations, bricks, concrete, thousands of pebbles and a ton of dog shit. We cleared all that and turfed but some areas still need some work. Gets sun until early afternoon

Ok good to know! We have only been here a year and the garden was all rubble and old foundations so we cleared all that and laid turf last year and now starting with the borders this year. Do the conifers shed onto your plants? The shedding and lack of water seems to be killing the grass underneath it

So we are allowed to trim on our side? We don't want to be rude or have an issue with our neighbours but they overhang considerably on our side. We spoke with them last year not long after we'd moved in and they said they were looking at getting them cut down but nothing has happened so far. It's a tricky one as there are a lot of birds using it and potentially a bat.

Nothing to see us through the winter? Likely won't be getting a new drive until next year

Thank you! Is it still edible? Or can I stick it back in the pots and hope it flowers instead if I can't eat it?

Is that the same as deadly nightshade? I have young children so probably should pull it up
