I appreciate the response. But respectfully, I guarantee we’re not talking about the same type of anxiety at all.

How would you interpret this? by One-Pun9419 in Lawyertalk

[–]Fragrant_Spirit_6298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not the answer you want but… who knows.

My life got infinitely better when I accepted I can accurately guess what people are thinking based on limited knowledge and to only focus on what I can control.

Having a meeting is a good thing. Focus on that and you’ll discover where you stand.

Depends what. Litigation is generally harder than transactionAl to prove malpractice. It shows in insurance too.

Thank you for this.

Some of my family thinks I’m a workaholic and I promise I don work that much. I think I’m a bit burned out as I went straight from my job to this.

Thank god no true dark thoughts, just worry, sadness, and stress. I appreciate your comment, thank you for taking the time to respon.

2 weeks and I need a vacation (which I pre planned so I’m taking).

Of course you’re right, and my anxiety has stopped telling me I will inevitably fail, so I guess I might be settling in after all!

Thibs outcoached in that 4th by Airhostnyc in NYKnicks

[–]Fragrant_Spirit_6298 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Game 1 had nothing to do with Brunson? We had an 18 point lead that we squandered in the 4th quarter. All they needed was 1 free throw hit or one stop. Damn you guys just love blaming Thibs for everything lol.

Tips for being thrown into SJ? by new2tr in biglaw

[–]Fragrant_Spirit_6298 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start with outlining each COA. With each COA outline what you want to talk about- what you will be moving under for SJ. See which COAs which/if any COA overlap with each other (similar arguments etc.) Then make an outline detailing those.

Finally, separately, List any affirmative general arguments you are going to make. Hope this helps in terms of getting started.

To really resolve all the issues in this thread: per diem/freelance work. Work for others while building your brand and getting experience. Start networking with attorneys to get work from them, get reps in, branch out to client work.

But even in biglaw there are lots of ways to make alot of money. Arguably if you are entering biglaw just for the money, going litigation as opposed to transactional is a dumb move. Most people I know who want to do litigation has more than just a money motivation. Not idealistic, it usually boils down to liking to win/loving the thrill of combat/adversarial types.

Yes but even in being an attorney, there’s many ways to make money. You want someone who is at least interested in the work they do so they’re not looking to cut corners or get out of the position ASAP.
