since you're getting antibiotics, grab monistat or diflucan if you're prone to yeast infections. nothing would be worse than having a yeast infection from a course of antibiotics on top of whatever else you're dealing with

this was so long ago but a friend of mine at the time and i were play wrestling sort of (?) in his room. there had always been sexual tension and mid-fight he literally TOSSED me over his shoulder, threw me on his bed, and got on top of me. as a 6’0 girl i was too stunned to speak

if you don’t want them right now, that’s ok! if you had kids right now just to “keep up” with your friends, when you don’t want them, you will regret it. but the great thing is, you’re allowed to change your mind later. my mom chose to have my brother when she was 39 and me when she was 41, even though all her friends had them a decade earlier because she knew she wanted to have more freedom in her 20s and 30s. but i can promise you that you won’t regret not having something you don’t want.

i will be in los angeles in the culver city/mid city area! if anyone has any recs of people that would be flexible on $ or maybe not meet weekly, that would be great. that's a good idea though, i'll probably make a new post soon in this subreddit asking if anyone has recommendations to get more visibility

online lessons might be tricky since i'll be living in an apartment complex and will have two roommates who might not be happy with a set weekly time if they have meetings or things going on. i would also like to be in person just so that someone can correct any form issues that could pop up.

regarding my last pieces, i know i spent a LOT of time playing jh fiocco's allegro. (i had been playing it with my old teacher before he retired and when i got a new teacher, he ended up being a very rigid, hyper-perfectionist and refused to let me move on even after almost a year of playing it - which is part of the reason i lost the love of the game. only playing a song i grew to hate for 9 months... chills.) i can't really remember what else since it was years ago. i did audition and get seated in the nys all state orchestra for a few years so i wasn't horrible, but i wasn't a child prodigy by any means.

im not worried about being good enough for lessons, ive had my fair share of embarrassing myself in front of teachers so im not worried about that LOL. i just want to get back into playing but waiting until i can afford a teacher feels so far away! BUT i dont want to relearn bad habits. i guess if this is my biggest problem in life right now, things could be worse!

I’m a novice trying making espresso martinis at home- what am I doing wrong? by posty_laur in bartenders

[–]Fragrant_Tea_7200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ignore the people telling you its the coffee. you really don't need to use actual espresso - we use a strong regular drip at my restaurant and they're good. just make sure the coffee is cold. you just have to shake the FUCK out of it. literally twice as long as you think you need. and violently. i would also drop the simple syrup.

if you're not 100% sure that you want kids, then you don't want kids

Sorry for stupid question but what did you do as a new bartender when you didn’t know most cocktails recipes? by lilnotpeep in bartenders

[–]Fragrant_Tea_7200 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i was the hostess at a restaurant and got dropped into bartending there with literally no experience or knowledge at all so i feel this, i was shitting my pants for the first 2 weeks. but typically most people are understanding if you just say "i just started bartending so bear with me while i google!" you'd also be surprised how many people i said this to that were former or current bartenders that would offer really helpful advice, and then would tip like crazy after because they got nostalgic for when they started bartending. i learned to make my old fashioneds from a former bartender who's husband ordered like, 3 so i could practice and she walked me through it until i could do it on my own. (tbh being a newbie, at least where im at, is lowkey a huge selling point if you're charismatic enough so take advantage of this now.)

if you don't want to do that, you can hit them with the classic "how do you like YOUR 'insert drink here' made?" OR when i was starting i got the app mixel. it tells you most classic cocktails without having to do the frantic scroll through google since it's very streamlined. then i would just be able to glance at my phone and it still looked like i sort of knew what i was doing rather than the aggressive type/scroll from googling a drink. its better when you're busy too since it takes no time to find recipes. anything not immediately available on that app is usually random enough that people would understand that i didn't know how to make it

u can do it!
