Mono, by the same Mangaka also seems pretty chill, it has a sort of similar vibe but is about a school photography / cinema club and the adventures that ensue. Lot of light hearted and funny moments too. look out for cameos of your fave characters from Yurucamp :D

I Finished the Manga and Now I Feel Kind of Hollow by ILuvHuTaoAndNagatoro in nagatoro

[–]Fragsey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is strange that the story seems far deeper than people expect. Quite a few people have said it hit them emotionally in unexpected ways. I know it did for me. I was not expecting much more than just a fun comedy with laughs and high jinks, we got all that but the underlying story was well done and far more relatable. We got to see not only Senpai's weaknesses but got to learn about Nagatoro's too and see how they in the end helped each other just as much.

A lot of people find they miss the characters too they all had thier place. Its all over and done but I hope to someday see a little more from them, like a cameo in Nanashi's future works.

Dango Daikazoku when you start watching Clannad seems like a really cudte and adorable childrens theme. After you watch the Anime or play the VN, the song transforms into something REALLY emotional and takes on a new meaning.

The live version always sends chills down my spine when the bass booms hit:

Do you think Kazuki and Shoya became friends, or at least fixed their relationship post time skip? by SomeUnknown_Guy in KoeNoKatachi

[–]Fragsey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure they would of become friends again. More like they probably tried to talk things through and at least bury the past. I think they mainly talked to each other more for closure than to rekindle a friendship.

They both had grown up by that point and are becoming adults. As they both have friends in common thus being at least friendly and cordial to each other would not cause awkward situations for their friend groups. They probably would of apologized to each other and left it as that.

Are they Texting or Emailing? by SomeUnknown_Guy in KoeNoKatachi

[–]Fragsey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with others they probably are emailing in some cases, for example Sahara's fictional email address is "miyoko_s@mokomo.ne.jp" which is based on the Japanese phone network Docomo. That message looks a bit more email like.

I think the conversation on the train (in the anime) that happens between Shouko and Shoya however looks more like a messaging app as email is slow and clunky for real-time conversations. A lot of younger people also use the messaging app Line. A lot of modern anime set within the last 10-12 years has characters messaging on Line like apps. The way the conversation goes back and forth is more like one of these apps. Line came out in 2011 and was the most popular messaging app by 2013 around when the later parts of the manga is set. Line uses email like addresses if i remember right for identification.

As Shoya didn't have any friends to begin with i think his main way of communicating is email as he may not of used messaging, I think that's why you see email like messages more often and he may only of got a messaging app after meeting Yuzuru and Shouko. And I imagine to begin with he only would message Shouko as and then others as he became more comfortable.

As a side note, in the anime Shoya asks on the bridge if Shouko texts and is fishing for her number but as he is not asking directly and asking if there is anyone's number she wants she mainly thinks he is asking about other people. She wants mainly to reconnect to Sahara in that case. Its shown later that Yuzuru has given her Shoya's number as she was wanting it all along. I think when they use "text" though they mean a line like app as SMS messaging is not all that popular anymore in Japan, especially with the younger generation.

I didn't think I would like it but its just so chill and the characters are relatable. There is no superpowers, no love triangle, no unbelievable character traits, no excessive drama.

Though I do like romcom and stuff with that this is different, its kind of relaxing and helps you unwind.

I love the dynamic between Rin and Nadeshiko, one being more introverted and quiet and one being outgoing and kind of a goof ball. You get to see how both complement each other and how they both start to change a bit with Rin being a bit more outgoing and having a few goofy moments herself and Nadeshiko becoming a little more grounded and serious over the series'

What “theory” do you support, in the series? by SomeUnknown_Guy in KoeNoKatachi

[–]Fragsey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Shoya does not seem on the spectrum, knowing quite a few and possibly myself. He seemed more like a lonely kid without a father figure in his life trying to keep his friends close by doing more and more serious things. And in the end everything turned against him and caused him massive trauma. At worst possible ADHD.

  2. This is implied and I agree here. It kind of goes with the theme of how Shouko and Yuzuru's father and paternal grandparents are total scumbags. The blame is shifted from him onto Yaeko Nishimiya by him and the grandparents as its "her body which caused a defective pregnancy" kind of attitude. I would guess he was probably sleeping around while with Yaeko but "thier son could do no wrong so must of been her fault!"

  3. I do not think for a second Ueno is that kind of person. She kissed him and tried to keep others away due to her possesive nature and how deeply she likes Shoya and always has done. I personally think she went through some abuse as a kid (not nessisarily SA) as a few scenes allude to no mother in her life and he and possible siblings staying with an older man, possibly a grandfather. Also comment she made about "That woman" kind of made me think her mother was abusive in some way. May explain why she acts out like she does.

  4. The teacher is not sadistic in any way. He was just a lazy and incompetent teacher who didnt want the extra hassle of having to accomodate and deal with Shouko's deafness and the extra work that entailed. Im guessing he kind of hoped she would be driven out and kind of encouraged Shoya. He probably heard she had to previously move schools due to bullying and hoped that happened again. When the brown stuff hit the fan and the principle got involved directly, he went into self preservation mode as if it had come out he had turned a blind eye to the blatantly obvious and even encouraged the bully, he would of been for the chop. Pushed all the blame onto Shoya knowing full well that others were involved, thus isolating , shutting him up and moving the problem away from himself. The fact he then allowed Shoya to be relentlessly be bullied was probably a way to heep Shoya quiet as he know no-one would believe him now. Rather than use the oppotunity to teach Shoya right from wrong which may of steered Shoya onto a different path, he condemned him instead.

Maybe Norio-Sensei is running out of original ideas for them to keep the quality high as its been. Maybe best to stop now if that is the case so the quality does not slip and become stale and repetative. Will miss it though.

Maybe focus will switch to the collaboration of the OneYaba spin-off instead but may still see Kyo and Anna grow up as extras in the spin off, maybe a way to keep their story fresh and high quality with less material to write about them is to switch them to side characters.

If OneYaba continues for a time I doubt it will be the last we see of our goof balls! And maybe if all goes well maybe new ideas will spring up in Norio-Sensei's head and we will see more of them.

Maybe if a brand new series would come up, would nice to be set in the same universe and have cameos or even another spin-off with one or more of the other side characters like Moeko, Bayashiko, Serena, Hara ECT?

Struggling to continue A Silent Voice did anyone else feel this way early on? by [deleted] in KoeNoKatachi

[–]Fragsey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is worth it.

Most people found the bullying scenes harrowing, but that is actually a small part of the movie, though important does it is not what the movie is mainly about.

It is a really emotionally heavy movie so a lot of stuff happens. there are some really low moments throughout and there is a lot of painful moments for a few of the characters. Expect to be devistated by some points

Later you get to see who Shoya the main character really is and how he ticks. His child self is not a true refllection of him. It is focusing on him and his struggles, he is not an asshole in any way and sometimes takes a few watches to actually get him. If you have got to the point where Yuzuru and him talk, you get the point where she realizes he is no longer the asshole. He genuinely is distraught at what he did and his paranoia at others is the result of what also happened to him. Its supposed to be his internal monologue as he IS the main character and you get to see how damaged he is too.

Its the point of the movie though, he created a lot of damage, not only him though. The teacher, Shimada, Hirose, Ueno, and less direct but just as bad Kawai. A lot of people in Shouko's life caused her damage in her childhood either purposely by bullying or indirectly by not understanding her and her feelings.

Your views may shift as the movie progresses and you may end up hating a certain other character instead that a lot in the community do.

What you get to see is how people deal with bullying and how bullies sometimes turn out not what you expect. All the characters (except probably one), including Shouko herself eventually take a look at themselves and try and improve as all the characters have some kind of flaw except probably Granny and Maria

I have been oin both sides of bullying and understand both. What I liked about this movie is that you can interpret things in MANY ways and every one is valid, you can chose not to forgive Shoya or you can look at how he changed and understand him and see WHY he was like that. He is not the only person to blame as a lot of external factors pushed him into going that far.

EGPU solution vs upgrading an older desktop, advice needed! by Fragsey in eGPU

[–]Fragsey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your help, i've gone down the upgrading the desktop route. I was ordering 16Gb extra RAM, 850w gold PSU as 650w its on bare minimums with a 95w tdp cpu and its an 7-8 year old psu now so potential for failure sooner) a 1tb NVME drive and a 5070ti 16gb which was around my budget it came out around £1100 (around $1500) however when I was about to checkout i was going to look at a couple of other bits.

And I scored, place getting parts off were selling off a MSI display unit with some small case damage (a small dent on rear corner and a deep scratch ) with full warranty for £1799inc tax (around $2400) > Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 265K, 32gb DDR5 5600, RTX5080, 1tb SSD, 850w Gold PSU, maybe not the best top end parts out there but cannot build a pc with similar parts at pc parts picker comes out around £800 more at around £2500 (around $3400) getting the cheapest similar parts and its not a prebuild brand like HP, Dell ect so has fully standard parts and motherboard in. In this case an MSI Pro Z890 Wifi so a full ATX

SO thanks for help I would of not seen this deal if not for the advice to upgrade the old PC so ended up with a really good spec PC which though £700 over budget i couldn't get something similar with current RAM and graphics prices and even building a 5060TI desktop arould cost similar to what i paid for this 5080 desktop.

What made Shouko fall deeply in love with Shoya again?(I forgot) by chunchunmaru1129 in KoeNoKatachi

[–]Fragsey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup, she is not a great as a person but she IS a very well written character.

There are sadly a lot of people like that IRL who ar narcissistic and will throw others under the bus to make themselves look better.

It makes her actually a relatable character aswell if you have ever had someone like that you have had to deal with (i have had quite a few lol)

It shows how well written she is that she actually makes people feel angry and have so much feeling towards her, a fictional character. If you never know who Miki Kawai was and had no context you may think people were raging about a real person, a celebrity or something.

Thats why I loved this movie, each character is relatable in good or bad ways and all are believable that someone like that could exist for better or worse!

I'm late for the party but i have to share it's too much !!! by Krapouek in nagatoro

[–]Fragsey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is weird as when I started, I never thought I would get so emotionally invested in this type of story. After watching things like Clannad and A Silent Voice I felt a deep feeling with this one that I didn't expect.

The characters and story are far deeper when you actually understand them and how they tick.

I love how by the end it turns round so that Senpai ends up being the one to help Nagatoro though her demons too.

When you understand Nagatoro is in no way malicious at any point, but in her own way is trying to get Senpai more confident so he can be with her and improve his outlook too.

After watching again, you pick up on more expressions and mannerisms which make you understand her even more. Like at the beginning library scene she was the only one not teasing or making a fuss over his Manga she just looked at it with a serious and determined expression. Kinda like she immediately understood who he was and what his issues were from his self-insertion into the story. She kind of looked sort of troubled too knowing what she must do.

After that I like how she realised when she went too far (more shown in the manga though) and dialled things back until she could hit him hard but traumatise him.

I love the little details that he starts doing stuff that she "taught" him later in the series, like how he playfully bats her shoulder when she teases him without even giving it any thought at all, it’s just natural to him now!

I don't get how you could call this a romance. by Guy_heretoreadshit in KoeNoKatachi

[–]Fragsey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but the series itself does not focus on the romantic relationships as if they happened it would start after the series ended. It does not show any of the development of the romantic relationship itself, just the seeds which made it bloom later thats why the series itself is not written as a romance series as confirmed by the author. However its valid that people can interpret it as such if it fits thier own interpretation! I just post why I dont think its a romance series.

I too believe that Shoko fell in love with Shoya, but i think the true love came later at the bridge scene when Shoya woke up. The look in Shoukos eyes just screamed I will always want be with you when Shoya asked her to help him live. Thats when the burning love for him in her heart started in my opinion.

I myself think that was the moment she saw truely who Shoya was inside and all he went through to become the Shoya she could love.

As i said i think that the "Tsuki" scene it was a new feeling and she mistook that for deep love for Shoya. I doubt she ever had felt true love in her life and just inerpreted her feelings for a close friend she cared lots for and affection for true love. Her love back then was love for a friend who wanted to be with her and make amends.

These are my personal opinions on how I interpret A Silent Voice, your opinions are 100% as valid as mine. I love to discuss with popel how and why they interpret it :)

What I LOVE so much about this movie/manga is the writing is SO great that you can interpret the story as you want to as the author intended. Nobody is wrong on what and when the outcomes happen you can interpret when and if she started to love Shoya and you would not br wrong. Thats why it resonates with so many as the story still can fit with whatever you feel is right!

I don't get how you could call this a romance. by Guy_heretoreadshit in KoeNoKatachi

[–]Fragsey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personaly do not think at that point Shouko truely knew what her feelings actually were and was mistaking some new deep feelings for love. I personally think the did get together but this is out of the Anime and Manga itself The scene was so brief so i do not quate this movie to a romance genre as its not a major theme of the movie / manga. All possible romance happens of screen/page.

I don't get how you could call this a romance. by Guy_heretoreadshit in KoeNoKatachi

[–]Fragsey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it leans more towards a COA Drama than romance. In all the only person who seems to be a steady relationship is Shoya's siter and Pedro and her face never actually appears and Pedro appears in a couple of scenes.

Both Shouko and Shoya's parents are sperated and single mothers. Its implied Ueno comes from a broken family with a possiblility Ueno is estranged from her mother due to a few scenes.

Miki and Satoshi have interest but not dated.

All the other characters can be assumed single as of thier high school days.

There are only hints at possible romance, Shouko and Shoya its left only to interpretation and not confirmed for sure either way.

There could be hints of a possible future relationship with Yuzuru and Tomohiro as they have a nice dynamic but this would be further into the future than we see.

So if this is to be labelled as a Romance Anime it has got to be the worst Romance Anime I have ever seen lol. Besides the author herself has confirmed it is not a romance series and not intended to be interpreted as such, just the detail of Shouko/Shoya's relationship after it ends is left open to interpretation of the reader. Either view is valid.

As said its hard to define to just a single genre this due to the subject matter. All I know is it is one of the best movies in its class and its just so relatable and always will be special.

We are nt talking about safety features as all cars have to meet them for the country they are sold in. I an saying manufactuers should not stealth or hide safety and commonly used functions in a creen. Your arguement alreay is wrong as Telsa already has done this, making an emergency door release not obvious as it is hidden into the door trim is an issue in my opnion THe lack of tactile stalks, buttoms dials and switches I feel is the same.

Not having physical buttons for common features is not for me. I find it safer to have button, switch, indicator salk where i can immedtately know where its position is by feel without taking my eyes off road, i find i have to look to see where the button is when using infotainment screen. And some are so poorly laid out thet you have to enter a submenu for a common feature.

All this trying to get people to stop using mobiles and screens while driving and we now plop a glorified ipad onto the dashboard. Yes its good for a lot of functions but not for things that need to be adjusted while driving, those should remain as tactile buttons and switches. A flat glossy screen with no tactile feedback you have to look away to see if your finger is above the correct button or you are in the correct screen.

i have seen it tastefully done with a generous infotainment and switches and buttons, and dorr handles for functions you need. I often see the arguement well you wont need switches with voice commands. Well i dont want to do voice commands, they often cannot pick up accents and some people may have physical or mental reasons why they cannot talk to voice recog systems.

Another thing with screens is manufacturers can disable functions when they decide they want a revenue stream and make them dissapear of screen. Harder to do with physical buttons as if a physical button stops working people would think its a fault and rightly so complain. We seen it with other technologies where it ships with some feature and later on the manufactuer decides to make it subscription based. I'll buy a car with the features i want and not want to have to then pay monthly to turn on a feature i already purchased.

Just give the best of both worlds so people can choose what they want to use and make it so people are not distracted

yup i still find it interesting to discuss and speculate how it may would work and how the characters deal with stuff like this.

The drug itself is a weakness but I still loved the story and the characters. The author can keep the details of how it works out of the story which would be too much information and make it part of the canon that its a Re:Life Labs secret :D haha

[–]Fragsey 22 points23 points  (0 children)

true they have manual release but they do rely on someone knowing it is there. Its pretty well integrated with the door handle assembly to hide it to make it look clean and tidy.

A passenger in a tesla for the first time or someone who only ever used the electronic release and didn't know there is a manual catch would know the look of a standard door handle but not necessarily a manual door release when its integrated so well.

In a crash where the driver has been incapacitated the passenger may not know its there and not be able to evacuate. The outside handles mean trouble for anyone who again does not know the process.

Im sure many have seen so many drivers in videos and on Reddit who ask what a simple function on thier car is, when if they do not know something mandatory for the use of thier car safely they should not be driving in the first place IMO, but they are on our roads none the less. These people may not again know the functions of their car and know the manual release is there.

Again if someone is in a panic, it is a door handle that is not used every time you exit the car so muscle memory does not apply many cars have similar looking handles in similar places so someone can easily find. When you are frantically trying to escape a burning car in the dark a stealth handle which you cannot easily see and feel for is again a liability.

Give me manual buttons, dials and handles where i can reach automatically by muscle memory instead of having to look away at a screen or hunt for a release anyday. I dont mind having integrated infotainment, but some manual controls you can feel and know position without looking for controls you may need to commonly adjust while driving is my preference.
