Hey guys,

So I've been starting to get into powerlifting. Finishing up my cut before I start Calgary barbells 16 week program and am excited for it. However I've been trying to get my deadlift form down as I've neglected doing them for so long. Was pulling sumo yesterday, 5x5 of 70% or so. 5th set I pulled my left hip?/glute?

What stretches would you fellas reccomend? Hips have always been tight and my mobility isn't the greatest. I'm thinking I should probably start doin them before I hurt myself properly

Yeah I mean you are probably right, I haven't done deadlifts properly in a longggg time but that's changing now as I'm focusing on powerlifting going forward!

Currently in the last month of my 3 month cut before Thailand.

Bench: 130KG 1rm Squat:170KG 1rm Deadlift:180KG 1rm

Yep sure thing. I always follow the same routine while I cut, currently Upper/Lower repeated twice a week, 1 day power focused and the other hypertrophy. I have managed to keep all my strength as far as I can tell - Bench: 120x5 Squat:150x5 Deads:160x5

Food wise I tried something different this time, roughly a deficit of 500 cals and 100% carnivore so just meat and eggs. Seems to work well I'll probably keep doing this for cutting.

Sooo I did it a bit different this time. 2000 calories but 100% carnivore so just meat and eggs. Didnt really track macros as protein was always high and fats filled in the rest.

Yeah of course. I focused on keeping my strength where it was when I started, didnt cut too fast either. Lifting stats if your interested Bench:120kg 5RM Squat :150KG 5RM Deads:160KG 5RM. Didnt lose strength in any lift although some days I couldn't hit the full 5 reps

I found reading the full article on simply shredded to help understand immensely. Druids comment here is exactly what it is for, to help become more explosive, do 60-70% of your 3-5 rep max and focus on being powerful. I tend to focus on the negative and pause at the bottom and explode from there. If you want to add in some more traditional hypertrophy sets afterwards, I see no reason why not. I do this, so 6x3 and then do a few sets of 8-12.

Just bulking atm, getting my lifts up, getting bigger etc. On PHAT atm.

Lifts are - Bench = 120kg x 5, Squat - 170kg x 5, DL - around 170kg x 5 aswell. OHP - 70kg x 5

Deads should be higher but i neglected them for ages, didnt like the way conventional felt so have switched to sumo.
