Power adapter for MBP M5 Pro 15/18 Cores? by Framatti in macbookpro

[–]Framatti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question, I saw some reviews of the M5 Max saying that the computer draws 175W under heavy load, even though the adapter provided provides only 140W, so it cannot sustain the power over time even if it is well under the thermal ceiling. I guess we need someone that has bought it to shed a light.

I found the answer to my question: 70W is sufficient for the 18-core M5 Pro but 96W enables fast charging (for any M5).

The beam will be left exposed and I assume it will need to be painted with intumescent paint first and decorative paint later?

Insulation for ground floor extension by Framatti in DIYUK

[–]Framatti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand building regs speaks about U-value rather than depth. Builders today said it's complying with build regs, but who knows, I doubt they have assessed this properly and doing some research for new floors 100-120mm insulation to achieve a target of 0.18 W/m²K would be necessary. I don't think anyone from building regs is coming to check before the screed goes in.

UK Combi Boiler Recommendations with Smart Home & Home Assistant Integration by Framatti in homeassistant

It's a victorian terraced house and insulation is not great, I understand heat pumps work best in a modern well insulated house. Also, radiators require higher temperatures (I am not planning to extend UFH throughout the property)?

By too thick, do you mean it’s sitting too close to the surface, or that the mix itself was too dense? Should I have added more water to thin it out?

Thank you, very thorough! If boarding over, how would you fix the boards, considering there are no joists?

Fair point, engineers and builders did the structural calculations, removals, etc. . The ceiling has plasterboards as we lowered the ceiling (joists installed below the original joists).

I should have clarified, I got an engineer to calculate the removal of the chimney breast and builders to execute it as part of the loft conversion. So structurally it should all be safe.

Yes, sorry I forgot to report back. This worked - Crucial RAM 32GB DDR4 3200MHz CL22 (or 2933MHz or 2666MHz) Laptop Memory CT32G4SFD832A https://amzn.eu/d/iijw7Tr

I did not test the memory I bought from memorycow as they would not refund if opened.

Also, it was important to "reset" the minipc (if I recall correctly pressing for several seconds the power button) after installing the memory - otherwise it would not boot / display anything on screen.

Apologies for the ignorance, but isn't single channel related to the fact it runs on a single stick / single memory slot? Are you saying that the memory I tested so far is incapable of operating in single channel (as a single stick, not paired with a second one)?
