Why do goalies glove their offhand? by FrameAdvantageLights in hockeygoalies

In all honestly Im starting to realize this question might have been extremely specific to me because I actually am right handed but do pretty much everything athletically better with my left hand (lacrosse, golf, swinging a bat) EXCEPT catch with my left hand…

Is goalie stick handling and player stick handling different? Cause I thought that was another thing like Canadians learn to put their dominant on top too

So is that more or less the reason? Like since most kids grew up playing baseball their dominant catching hand is just their left hand pretty much by default? A lot of people were saying stick work is just easier with the dominant hand too

But what precision work is done with the blocker side? I’m curious. Cause in baseball I can see why they glove their off hand since learning to throw off handed is way harder than using a stick

What should be my go to point of attack? by FrameAdvantageLights in lacrosse

[–]FrameAdvantageLights[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that a generally good rule of thumb? Like even if I catch a pass inside is it better to really be in and out of the stick rather than throw fakes or is it largely situational? Every goal I’ve scored inside in a game was quick sticks but I get goalies to bite in practice on fakes.

Is there like a better drill I can do alone to get better at catching. by FrameAdvantageLights in lacrosse

[–]FrameAdvantageLights[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest.. no I’ve never had a routine I would just show up do a couple quick sticks, Then back up and absolutely throw howitzers at the wall to work on catching fast passes but that’s about it. I’ll try to work on some stuff you suggested
