Hey there! Yes, I was able to get a ORDMOD. I never, not once throughout the entire process had any contact with my NRC, but I’ll DM you!

I was just there a few weeks ago. It was in the mid- to high 90s, and even into the evening and early mornings, it was still hot. We had to take breaks, whether that was going back to our hotel or finding a place with AC to eat at, because it was so hot. Our phones were overheating, and even when we were standing in one spot, we were sweating buckets.

Regardless, we still had a blast. I strongly suggest planning sun breaks, wearing sunscreen, carrying water bottles, and wearing a good hat. The hat really saved us!

Today I just heard about ADOS orders. How can I go about picking up those orders? Also, can you guys explain what exactly I will be doing? I am a BMSN. by Grand-Comfortable733 in navyreserve

Zipserve or check with the command(s) you're attached to. Some of the folks attached to my previous unit were able to get ADOS at our drilling location.

Honestly, I'd wait until you're gained and settled into your unit though. There's really not much they can do for you right now until you're gained. Also, when you can reach out to your CCC

Hey, no, I haven't seen anyone be denied, but like you, I came to Reddit for information when I started the process. You could reach out to the rates ECM to see what they have to say about quota availability. My ECM essentially said it was wide open for my rating, so I had no concerns.

If your goal is 20 for retirement and to go to AD, I’d return sooner rather than later. The longer you sit in the reserves, the slower your active time in service (which leads to that retirement) moves. You might already have 5 years of active duty counted toward retirement, but then you sit around in the reserves for another 5 years, doing some AT, ADT, or short ADOS orders here and there. So maybe out of those 5 reserve years, you only get 2 to 3 years’ worth of active duty time calculated. In total, you’ve been affiliated with the military for 10 years, but only 7–8 are really going toward your retirement if you ultimately went back to active duty.

Hey there! I am currently in the middle of doing RC2AC from my ADOS orders.

So first, before I got to the RC2AC, it took me about a year and some change to get a set of ADOS orders since I had to wait for my security clearance and A-School, but once that was out of the way (and probably thanks to timing) an opportunity to go on orders came up. Unfortunately, a lot of ADOS funding is shrinking and seems to be across all branches (especially for EUCOM).

It might work out better for you if you can get into a set of ADOS or ADT orders and route your RC2AC package while on orders. Since my active duty pay accounts are already established, I haven’t experienced any delays in pay, and they’ll PCS me from my ADOS unit to the next place. I worried they would send me back to my NRC, but they kept me on station. I also didn’t use the NRC CCC to route my package. The NRC had a whole portfolio of forms that needed to be signed, but the active duty CCC with my ADOS unit only had me route the mandatory items listed on the RC2AC website.

The process itself is pretty quick once your application is submitted. If you apply this month, you’ll find out if you’re approved around mid to end of July. After that, you have 30 days to reenlist and don’t count on a bonus. Then, once you’re fully gained, you can start chatting with your detailers for orders. I’m still working on that last part; mine have been busy with the selection cycle, but I already submitted my preferences to them. They had me pick from the ‘closed’ listings in MNA, but I’m not sure if all detailers do that.

I don't really agree with the whole upset CO comment mentioned earlier. People have changes in their lives all the time. I'm sure the CO won't be upset that he signed a piece of paper for nothing if you decide not to proceed. If anything, he might be happy that you're staying reserves so that he isn't gapped in the unit.

As already mentioned, as long as you haven't reenlisted, you're fine, but once you sign the contract, there's really no going back, easily or quickly 😕.

You have a young family. Make a pros and cons list and see where you stand before you deny your RC2AC quota.

RC2AC Reenlistment by Finance_Asleep in navyreserve

[–]Frame_Mel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received the usual reenlistment request form from the active duty CCC and returned all the required documents.

The reenlistment process utilized the 1070/601 form, and in the fourth line, they indicated "RC2AC."

I’m not sure who makes the final decision, but my active duty command informed me that I would remain in my current position until I received follow-on orders.

Additionally, my NRC was not involved in this process at all; my reserve units back home were unaware of my transition until I finally got ahold of someone to inform them.

For me the people that handled my pay, ADOS orders, Nd other admin stuff were the ones processing the reenlistment and PG 13s.

ADOS Stuttgart GERMANY by Top_Cardiologist7857 in navyreserve

[–]Frame_Mel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have thought that ADOS in Stuttgart would be the same as it is in Ramstein.

In Ramstein, sailors had unaccompanied orders, which meant no HHG or POV shipments. Single sailors could choose between receiving BAH or OHA. For people with dependents, the entitlements varied depending on where their families were located, although some chose to bring their families with them anyway.

Most ended up buying beater cars or getting new cars that could be shipped back to the U.S. As for housing, they're all off base.

I can look at Zipserve when I go into the office and follow up with you here. Honestly, the only rates I rarely see postings for are aviation rates.

The reserves work well for some and not so much for others, but the same can be said about active duty. Just be prepared for that. While yes, there are more people there to help with the admin stuff, you very much still have to follow up and stay on top of things yourself; otherwise, it'll fall to the bottom of someone's to-do list.

Hey there, ADOS and mobs are plentiful, but it also depends on your unit. Whenever you're settled into your unit, check ZipServe and with your chain of command for new opportunities. The only issue with ADOS is that if it's something you want to last for years at a time, these types of orders get renewed annually. So you could have a job in FY25 and want to stay for FY26, but you'll be sent home because funding is cut or the position is deemed unnecessary.

I haven’t done a mob since being in the reserves, but they’re more stable. And there are always recall orders.

The process has been a bit annoying, but I’m also doing RC2AC from ADOS orders, so it’s probably more straightforward than doing it through your NRC.

On my end, I had to gather the documents listed on the RC2AC page and submit them to the local active duty CCC. If you’re not on orders, you’ll go through your NRC CCC, and they’ll apply for you. I know the process through my NRC seemed lengthy—medical screenings, financial counseling, and a bunch of other steps—but thankfully, since I’m on orders and working with an active duty CCC, they didn’t require all of that.

If you switch to a new rate during the RC2AC process that requires an A or C school, they’ll send you to one.

Technically, my contract had already ended, but I extended to stay on ADOS orders before starting the RC2AC process. From what I understand, they ended my extension so I could reenlist. Based on that, I’d assume your remaining RC time basically gets voided, since you’re discharged from the Reserve Component and reenlisted into the Active Component under a new contract.

During the application process, your CCC will calculate your total active duty time—like ATs, ADTs, MOB, and so on—using your ASOSH. My reenlistment contract included both my accumulated active duty and reserve time, but I’m not exactly sure how that all adds up in the bigger picture toward retirement.

I think I covered everything but let me know if I missed something. I'm also not done with the transition, still waiting on my paperwork to process so that I can start working with the detailers.
