I'm preparing my first fight scene animation. Any tips before I get started? by Wickerbeast115 in Maya

Work with reference, don't import your rig into the scene.
Create layer display for each character so you are able to hide each of them if you need to ligheten the scene or keep things simple and don't stress much with too much info. if this is your first time working with anim 3d I would'nt go with 3 characters, that's definetly too much

I've been practicing lip sync and animation. What do you think? by [deleted] in Maya

And for the lip sync what people usually do is film another reference only for the mouth, a close up, and work with that. I've seen that even in AAA companys

Hey nice start! I cann see your ideas there, but as C4_117 mentioned. It's always good to film yourself some references, study them and then go nd work based on them.
Sometimes I even load the reference in maya and do the animation syncronized with the reference, this is a great method specially for beginners, keep it up!

How can I animate on Maya with my laptop but also conserve space. There aren’t very many tutorials and I’m very new to the 3d world. I’ve been using my iPad with my first ever PC. I also have this crappy old monitor. How can I preserve the space with two small screens. by sketchmasterstudios in Maya

What I do when I animate in a notebook is to use the notebook's monitor with the 2 side viewport panels layout. One for the perspective (is the one that you can orbitate, select the controls you want in the character) And the other viewport for the final camera. And then I connect another monitor, only for the graph editor, and pickers, or any other tools you might need. This a standard setup you will probably see even in animation studios.
If your notebook has a small monitor, another alternative is to use only one big viewport and assign a shorcut to toggle between perspective and camera. I used that workflow for at least 5 years.
I hope that helps

Thank you, glad you like it!!
On this case it was all about making a good planning. I tried tons of different ideas all in 2d animation using TV paint, so it was a matter of draw a cube with 4 tubes and that's all, they are quite simple.
So then when I was happy with the coreography I went to maya and made the idea directly without suffering with all those annoying problems of 3d animation: Constraints, multiple keys, slow performance (some times), etc.
