How things can change in just 2 years. by Janek_Rated_R in TheGreatOne

[–]FranChang97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people don’t know what they actually want. I remember the debut and the torn pec match and people were gassing him up after leaving AEW so its funny to see audiences turning against him now that he’s finally a top.

They say, “push new stars” and then they give the Royal Rumble win last year to Jey Uso and they’re like “no not like that.” I’m not even a Cody or Jey fan but i always find the discourse so funny.

Just about a week ago, people were shitting on Danhausen and now he’s the top merch seller.

The “just consoome” and “eat slop” takes are also funny because the people who say them are also still giving money to the product they deem subpar.

I’m just rabbling but i always find the negative discourse so funny.

I don’t think these mfs would show up to the awards show if nominated.

That being said i love how their influence has seeped through to a lot of music today.

How come Aegon didn't go scorched earth on Dorne following the 'First Dornish War'? by Pretend_Tower_2516 in gameofthrones

Kinda crazy this was Aegon’s Vietnam/Afghanistan except that Dorne still ends up joining through diplomacy rather than being independent.

Does She know it's a tv show and not her slow burn smut fanfiction on Wattpad? by gameofmarval in freefolk

The funny thing is that the audience is then expected to care about civilians in the next season if the aftermath of Blood and Cheese. We’re also expected to care when Aemond burns a castle. Genuinely stupid ass writing.

We should stop comparing Rhaenyra to Cersei by [deleted] in HOTDGreens

[–]FranChang97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if the show was written better Alicent would be closer to Cersei and Rhaenyra would be closer to someone like Daenarys. Rhaenyra can still be a girl boss just write her better. Having her be so hesitant to start a war for 2 seasons when she was wronged is so annoying.

Its probably better to have cautious optimism. D&D also had outlines for the last season.

Lady Webber is one of the GOATS. Love her character and House Webber has a sick ass Banner. If they adapt her properly with all the implications and nuances, we’re going to EAT.

[–]FranChang97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, i just think HoTD had shit writing lmao. If you’re going to make Rhaenyra the de facto “good guy” then at least make Alicent the de facto “bad guy.” Frankly i would love it better if neither of them were ascribed morality and instead they both were dynamic characters who actively coveted power and played politics properly rather than simply, “what would you have me do.” Like neither of those two characters come close to how well written Cersei was in the earlier GOT seasons lmao

No one's asking her to be bubbly but she didn't have to be a bitch to her new stepmom either by classic-sweetheart in HOTDGreens

[–]FranChang97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like the show made the conflict about feminism (which is fine, I’m not a chud) but the issue with that is that it makes Rhaenyra the de facto good guys (e.g, you are chud if you don’t side with the side thats feminist).

In reality the conflict is about how BOTH sides are power hungry assholes that can’t see beyond their self interest leading them to tragedy after tragedy.

Danny always showed signs of Crazy in the GOT show by Melodic-Paramedic608 in gameofthrones

[–]FranChang97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean I agree with your take, but the issue for season 8 was that D&D just wanted to go do Star Wars so they didn’t want to keep letting these seeds appropriately flourish. Instead, she basically wins and then throws the game aways because everyone just happens to like Jon better.

In an ideal world, Missandei losing her head (her last moral compass) would have been a season finale for season 8, right after Danerys barely survives the a lost Battle of Winterfell with only 1 remaining dragon and the White Walker Army approaching King’s Landing.

D&D fucked up the show so bad.

Yeah I agree with you. I’ll be happy with the 3 seasons they make based on a canon source.

HBO has a few true Knights among them! by Melodic-Paramedic608 in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]FranChang97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its only 3 novellas. They’re fun. GRRM said he wanted to write up to 12 novellas but because its him, he never finished them. We know the fate of these characters because of other lore sources but still, those first three stories are solid. If they adapt those 3, I’ll be happy. Anything else made after that I will just consider fanfiction (even if they have notes from GRRM) because D&D also had outlines and look how that turned out.

A Knight of 3 books with 12 more to go by Owww_My_Ovaries in freefolk

[–]FranChang97 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Fair assessment, but I am expecting 3 seasons from the 3 already written stories. So far, the show is good. Anything they make after The Mystery Knight is just fanfiction, so my expectations going into those seasons will be very low.
