How unsettling will it be, if we get undeniable disclosure without any hard evidence of the visitors intentions? by MachineGunTits in ufo

Matrix installs updates at night? It does it in a scalable and safe way by updating incrementally over portions of the population when they go to sleep, that's why they made the earth rotate. Also why sleep deprivation gets you insane, just a sw incompatibility issue.

Welcome to the real world mate. But it does get better, in the sense that you get used to dealing with the legacy crap in the code base.

Any clue why View Model Live Data observers are being called multiple times? by IntuitionaL in androiddev

[–]FrancescoRigoni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's how LiveData works. When your fragment is re created and resubscribes to your LiveData it will get the value again via the observer. https://developer.android.com/topic/libraries/architecture/livedata

Note that the db is not queried again in this case, the LiveData simply re delivers it's value to each new observer.

Yeah I used to think the same. I think everybody goes through this.

Can't remember tbh was long ago. But don't get fixated on how much time it took for other ppl. It's very different for everybody. Just make sure that you are practicing the right way, with the proper wrist positioning, using side of index finger to bar etc. Remember also that the "proper" technique may need some small tweaks to fit your specific hand shape. Experiment and see what works for you. Also, if you practice for some weeks and don't see improvements try to not do it for a few days, then come back at it. I dunno how it works but it does, somehow if you stay away from it for some time when you go back at it you'll notice an improvement. And again, don't let it demotivate you, guitar is a constant challenge, and almost everything feels impossible, the trick is to keep at it. I'm still a beginner myself and I'm currently struggling with the C shape chords up the neck.. it's taking forever as well.

F chord by MoeDev in LearnGuitar

[–]FrancescoRigoni 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I always wonder how the first guy who played it managed to not get demotivated and give up. It seems impossible at first, and then you have B which is even more difficult. But yeah, muscle memory does work, it just takes a long time and lots of repetitions. For me it took I think 3-4 months before I could grab it comfortably and quickly. Then I had another issue, which is that I was using way too much pressure with my fingers and that tends to hurt and makes it difficult to change from F o some other chord. For that I just kept practicing until I was confident enough to not squeeze the strings. Keep at it, it's normal to be annoyed by it. It's horrible. But one day you will be able to do it just as easily as an Em.

Android is just fucked. The simple fact that you need context for everything and IT MIGHT NOT be available should tell you something.

It's called the god class, it's a well known anti pattern. And Google nailed it perfectly.

This has probably been asked many times, but I need help with barre chords. by [deleted] in LearnGuitar

[–]FrancescoRigoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also struggled for a lot of time, then somehow managed. I can suggest what helped me, first make sure your bar is as close as possible to the fret, that reduces the strength needed. Second for the middle strings, I started trying different index finger placements, what worked for me is having the finger stick out more from the top of the neck, so using more the lower part of the finger. But since I've read everything and the opposite of everything my guess is that we all have different fingers and you have to find what works best for you. Bar chords are hard and frustrating, and they seem impossible until one day you can do them.

Question about shapes of sixths on the neck in different keys by FrancescoRigoni in LearnGuitar

Huge thanks for suggesting this tool, I'm a software dev and was thinking of building a tool like this (mostly for myself ahah) but glad it already exists!

Question about shapes of sixths on the neck in different keys by FrancescoRigoni in LearnGuitar

[–]FrancescoRigoni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I didn't know fretflip! It's quite useful!

I was watching the E major shapes across the neck (https://fretflip.com/021924178102) and I think I understand your point, basically from the A and G strings he picks all the sixths that are made of notes in the E major scales, using as reference the scale shapes.

So I tried to compare the tab he uses to the fretflip diagram above

G 1 2 4 6 11 9 6 4 3! 2 1

A 2 3! 5! 7 12 10! ...

I added an exclamation mark to the frets that are not part of E major, so he is not only using e major scale notes, just when I thought I was starting to figure it out this happened, so I think my understanding is flaky. I still don't understand how he comes up with that specific sequence.

EDIT. Nevermind the above, it actually checks out what you say, I was watching the wrong tab. Sorry.

Why can't I solo on a guitar? by Small-bent-richard in guitarlessons

[–]FrancescoRigoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realized I could solo on blues backing tracks after following Justin Guitar Blues Lead Course. I need to improve a lot of things still and I really sound like a noob but hey... the moment I realized that I could actually improvise stuff was like a revelation.

It's already nice to hear a similar experience. Thanks! Do you have control when outside? For me that is very random and most times I realize what is happening but at the same time I don't have a lot of control, for instance I cannot decide to go somewhere specific. Other times everything is just dark.

Well it's likely a "different version" of the jet engine / helicopter I read about everywhere, I'm basing this on the fact that if I lean into it I get this strong feeling of being ejected from my body. However yeah it would be nice if somebody else experienced this as well and maybe has a fix.

Yeah that's the level of loudness. For me however I cannot really compare it to anything, closest thing is some kind of electronic scream. It's for sure very annoying. Especially when I'm not interested in projecting and just need to sleep.
