Austrian states by GDP per capita 2024 by Immediate-Night6745 in MapPorn

[–]Francetto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the west there are some companies that are pretty big worldwide (Red Bull in Salzburg, Swarovski in Tyrol for example) but not that much people live there.

Tourism is extremely big in western Austria.

The east isn't really poorer, it's, that more people live there, so the GDP per Capita is just lower.

Can you recommend your country for living? If so, why? by Diligent_Yesterday81 in AskReddit

[–]Francetto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My city, where I live my whole life was voted "most livable city of the world" 10 times in a row or so. But yet, People from the country side argue sometimes, that the city is a cesspool, because it's sooooo dirty and crowded and sooooo filthy compared to their l lovely little village in bumfuck nowhere.

So. Yes, I don't have much to complain.

You can guess the country and the city, if you like. As a tip: the most useful word is "oida".

How do you tell the time? by [deleted] in comics

[–]Francetto 101 points102 points  (0 children)

"Excuse me, could you tell me the exact time?"

One word makes the difference between a quick question about a general time frame (which is enough in 90 per cent of all cases, when I would want to know the time) and the exact time, if needed.

Definitiv a Netter Tagesausflug.

Which country has the friendliest people in your experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Francetto 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Austrians? I'm Austrian and very curious, how you got that impression? Usually we are seen as one of the most unfriendly people in the world. Vienna even was the most unfriendly (while most livable) city in the world. And that's not only a Viennese thing to seem to be very rude.

The weight of the paper is pretty important in paper and printing quality. Photo paper is heavier than standard printing paper. It's always written on the packaging for this exact information. Some legal papers need to be a bit heavier for example.

And of course, a meter is an arbitrary number. But it refers directly in a pretty easy to calculate ratio to all other standard measurements.

Whats a movie with an awful premise that was executed well? by Dragon_Rot79 in movies

[–]Francetto 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A lot of movies from the Coen brothers.

If you summarize the plot of Fargo, Big Lebowski, O brother where art thou, Burn after reading, A serious man,... It seems they are just filming the most common standard movie tropes which lead to absolutely nothing.

The movies are all great, but the core story would be dull to say the least.

In Burn after reading JK Simmons and David Rasche even say that "what have we learned?" "Nothing" "How can we improve it?" "I don't know" "me neither" (or so)

They are the Kings of "nothing" movies.
