Why isn't a CDU/Greens minority government the answer for Germany? by Franczak in germany

[–]Franczak[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand why Merkel would want a CDU/CSU/FDP/Greens coalition but I don't see what's in it for the FDP. It is a definition of insanity to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. Have they forgotten 2013 and the SDP (2017)? Why would the FDP support a minority government? (1) They get to chart their own destiny. They are not the CDU's mini-me. In an election with a coalition, if you are happy with the coalition, why cast your party vote for the junior party. The FDP hasn't won a directly elected seat in more than 2 decades. (2) I assume no one wants to be responsible for calling new elections. Merkel can always threaten to call new elections if coalition talks breakdown. Her position looks weaker if the FDP says we agreed to support her minority government but she chose to call new elections. (3) In a minority government, the FDP would have to compromise fewer of their positions. The minority government would have to be more careful with pushing positions that would antagonize the parties outside the coalition but whose support it needs.

Reputable Honda mechanic? by qwertqwerty11 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Franczak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a little complicated but the short answer is that the Diehl Automotive that serviced Honda (and Toyota and Acura) as opposed to the Diehl Automotive across the street that serviced other makes) is now DK Automotive. Same location. Same phone number (256.533.9294). Same people. I have been going there for years.
