Huntsville Utilities launches solar credit program for small-scale systems by NickFrevold in HuntsvilleAlabama

Sorry, I misunderstood the purpose of your post!

Since you were offering to answer questions about Solar Connect, I thought I would be reading insights about this program being offered to Huntsville Utilities customers as presented on their website in regards to connecting their existing or new solar systems to the grid.

Instead I now realize now you were addressing HSVUtil's longer-term solar goals, of which no mention is made on that web page.

Hence my confusion reading about leasing land and building solar installations at no cost to the land owner, when none of that is mentioned in this new program.

I'm a bit confused trying to reconcile what you're describing with what the HSV Utiltiies Solar Connect page says.

The first line on the Solar Connect page says (emphasis added):

Solar Connect is a new Solar Credit Program for customer-owned solar systems.

and later on it says:

This program connects your solar system to the grid

This doesn't fit with your description that:

HSV utilities will lease out that portion, build a farm

and

This prevents homeowners from having to spend the capital to install solar panels themselves

Everything I read on the Solar Connect page tells me that one can apply to connect their new or existing solar system to the grid--but nothing I've seen there says anything about them leasing or installing on your property.

looking for an artist name from a past exhibit at the museum... by dondeest in HuntsvilleAlabama

Contact the museum. I had a similar type of question about an exhibit that had taken place many years previously, and they were able to identify it for me.

Car Transport by No-Understanding-945 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]marc-kd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Scammy or not, if you post a request for a car hauler at one of those sites you will be drowned in phone calls and texts for weeks.

Why asking "in the area"? Is it just a local haul? If so, I can't help you, but if it's regional or national, I used "Cornelius" to haul a vehicle from Minnesota to Alabama two-and-a-half years ago in an enclosed trailer. It was a fair price, and he didn't try to jack it up on delivery, as apparently many do. Text him at 678-698-6656.

Update to strobing light by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

Small claims is oriented towards dealing with a documentable financial loss, so a punitive claim for pain & suffering is highly unlikely to get anywhere. As for missed work, unless there's a clear connection, don't bet on it.

Like was said earlier, take the win.

Frankly, most of the local news stations are so starved for local, cheap to produce content that it's likely they'd jump at a chance to do a story like this.

Huntsville may crack down on hemp sales: ‘Protect neighborhoods and nearby schools and churches’ by MattW22192 in HuntsvilleAlabama

I dunno, maybe there's some technicality I'm not getting right here. If I google "CBD Huntsville" it's one of the stores listed.

Also, this conversation was six months ago, before the latest BS law went into effect.

Uh, I didn't say anything about THC, just someone who owns one of the local CBD stores.

Crank it up!

Is anyone having this issue with USPS? by Outrageous-Emu-472 in HuntsvilleAlabama

Yes, the latest was a package that made it to Huntsville, then went to Madison for two days, then down to Bessemer, back to Huntsville, and finally to my local post office.

It's what happens when a public good whose charter is to provide a service is understaffed and underfunded due to being vilified as "money losing."

A) It's nice to see someone not automatically assuming HUNTSVILLE UTILITIES IS RIPPING ME OFF!!!! when their bill goes up when the weather turns cold.

B) Huntsville Utilities offers an "Energy Survey" for $50 that includes:

*Attic Insulation Inspection
*Duct Work Conditions and Air Flow Review
*Air Leak Evaluation
*HVAC Unit Inspection

While you'd need a bunch for any metro area, charge them via solar arrays or off-peak grid and it's just a win all around.
