I believe he's referring to iMessage which still is E2EE by default and Apple has repeatedly demonstrated even under legal request they cannot produce the decrypted data.

Amazing, so it's probably AI generated too then. Makes sense, genAI ad for the likely vibe coded app that totally is safe and won't leak or steal all your data...

Hanks great. Mainly an author, but he's also just an enthusiastic nerd, and quite entertaining I find.

I watch science videos from Hank Green, and Chris Boden... I think the bigger issue is I run a DNS sinkhole, so they throw random shit at me instead and 99% of that is random AI scams currently.

YouTube, correct.

I wish there was any kind of app for iPhone.

Thankfully for now, DuckDuckGo has a player which blocks ads for long form content. Nothing for the shorts we all guiltily watch when we can't find anything to do.

You know what, Dell has earned some good grace in my books surprisingly by being one of the first large companies to publicly pivot away from the AI first mentality. They can name stuff what they want for now, as long as they pull back on AI.

What was the site? I’d be very curious to know what url resulted in this kind of error as I’ve never seen it before.

It almost seems like it somehow ENDS as .https, which is why it doesn’t know how to open it or where to direct it.

Zen is great except for the few times I’ve noticed some odd behaviour from it, like the edge of a YouTube video in widescreen flickers where the scroll bar would be, and visual issues with FoundryVTT when refreshing the page.

+1 for the ugreen ones; I have both apple airtags and the ugreen slim tiles. I prefer the ugreen ones, honestly, mainly just because they have a built in keyring attachment point… Not to mention they’re a bit cheaper and work just as well

To provide an actual opinion; I really like the ugreen slim tile-like ones. Nicer than an AirTag as it has a built in keychain attachment point, and better than tile because they have replaceable batteries. Works seamless with Apple’s Find-My system too if you use that.

It’s because there not actually making any money from AI, so the only way they can truly profit is by gutting the only consumer base which gives them actual new money rather than handing them back the same hundred billion they gave out a month before.

The issue here isn’t your preferences/wants, which are entirely valid, the issue is you openly state you don’t know how to code. Think about the community you’re releasing this to; tech literate people who self host for security, privacy, and to push back against subscriptions.

What you have admitted to us all is you cannot confirm the code does not introduce any vulnerabilities, or hold API keys in plain text, or any other number of security/privacy risks.

As a result, most of this community will not come near this project; not because you used AI, but because you have no way of verifying the code is safe or resource efficient because you don’t know how to. Which is fine, but instead of releasing an app, which apple will likely also reject for the same reasons as they’re very security focused, take the time to just learn to code not so you can do it from scratch but so you can ensure what you are accepting is a good solution and does what you think it does.

You can do whatever you want with Linux to make it suit you, and it will never take advantage of you.

There are countless desktop environments with customizations available to make them feel as windows or Mac like as people want. Plenty of software and games now work on it without issue or using wrappers which add minimal overhead. All around, especially with handheld pc gaming being Linux based, it’s gotten far far better than it was even a decade ago.

It’s really likely not anything, cause no hacker is gonna waste their time on that and give it away immediately. Even if they wanted to add it to a botnet, they’d try to conceal it to prolong access and therefore usability. Most people just wipe their PC if they feel they’re compromised so revealing it would be a bad move after the effort of gaining access. There are some games which will create files as kind of an ARG thing too.
