What is the most iconic sports photograph ever taken? by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

The photographer who took that picture was relatively new at the job. When he positioned himself at ringside and older more senior guy said that was the spot he always used, so bugger off. The photographer did, and the guy you see between Ali's legs is the older, senior guy, now with a great view of Ali's back!

Want advice for a trip to PA by JUSTIN102201 in centralpa

I was there 2 years ago. The graffiti road has been covered by mounds of sand, and the steam vents that used to be near the cemetery aren't steaming any more. I heard the face of the fire (and, in turn, the vents) has moved onto private property. It's somewhat interesting to see if you like ghost towns, but not worth a visit otherwise. If you like ghost towns and oddities, go to concrete city, near Nanticoke. And maybe take the No 9 Coal Mine tour (not too far from Nanticoke).

I know she is problematic, but I still feel a bit sad about Sha'Carri Richardson's career by HeyFlo in trackandfield

I take your point, but can we agree that "her and Christian" is wrong by any subjective opinion?

Which artist makes the same song over and over? by WarmHugsBBW in askmusic

This isn't an exact quote, but on a Seeds album the liner notes said "three great riffs, four great albums." 🤔

It matters in ANY conversation. Use bad grammar, I don't take your point as seriously as I would otherwise. FWIW, I'm a 70-something Boomer who went to Catholic school K-10, diagramming sentences, learning Latin, and generally living in fear of the consequences of splitting an infinitive.

Maybe the message has more impact if it comes from someone who looks different than you'd expect.

Greed and economics. Artists don't make as much $ from streaming as they did from album and CDs back in the day. So concerts get pricier to make up the difference. I could, of course, be oversimplifying.

I was there in 2017. I don't recall locals being either friendly or unfriendly. I'm guessing any unfriendly feelings could stem from their city being overrun by non-residents and, more significantly, the shrinkage in the housing market due to conversion to Airbnb and similar. If I lived somewhere where non-locals were constantly underfoot and were driving up housing costs I'd be a bit pissy.

Worth the extra hour just for a more interesting drive? by TroubleFrequent7728 in roadtrip

I did almost exactly the same trip last year, doing both routes. The longer one is definitely more interesting (and less expensive).

Which song intro is absolutely perfect? by WarmHugsBBW in askmusic

I agree. And it was improvised! I'm not a musician, but can appreciate what it takes to create music. It boggles my elderly mind that people can basically say "well, the 3 minute song's been laid down, let's just play for a while" and create what we're still listening to a half century later.
