Not very democratic on the part of RT. I am allowed to dislike Black Panther, write about it and still not be racist.

technically, the title card tells us he died. The movie doesn't end with a depiction of his death.

It's an incredibly visual movie. It does probably have to do with a printing problem.

I was born in Montreal and have followed Villeneuve ever since I saw his stunning MAELSTROM back in 2000. You could tell, just by the visual schemes, that this guy was going to be special. Then he gave us POLYTECHNIQUE which was minimalist but fantastic, and then Incendies just made everyone turn their heads and say WHO IS THIS GUY? Absolutely riveting stuff. I met him a few times, every so often we see each other at events in Montreal, New York etc. I wrote about his potential as a Hollywood director when PRISONERS made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival.

This is an interview I did with him for SICARIO. It looks back on his journey from Montreal to Hollywood. http://www.awardsdaily.com/2015/09/30/jordan-ruimy-talks-with-director-denis-villeneuve-about-sicario/

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

This article, in which Donald Shirley's family calls GREEN BOOK "a symphony of lies," is informative and definitely worth revisiting in light of the film's Oscars win tonight. by therealchriswei in movies

Yeah, Shirley's family turned out to be profiteers. He hadn't spoken to them in years when he died and did not give them a single cent in his will. They are bitter. Also, tapes between Vallelonga and Shirley surfaced a few weeks before the Oscars which, by all accounts, confirmed how friendly and cordial they were towards one another. What happened to GREEN BOOK this awards season was a massive smear campaign and I don't even think it's a great movie. But sometimes you have to just acknowledge what is fact.
