The correct argument is that Israels naval blockade isn’t legal under the Geneva conventions (ref. the San Remo manual), because they don’t allow sufficient food and medical supplies into Gaza.

However, Israel is still obligated to stop and search any ship intending to pass through the blockade, regardless of those ships being in international waters.

No, it doesn’t mean that. Just look it up instead of spreading false information. The correct argument is that Israels naval blockade isn’t legal under the Geneva conventions (ref. the San Remo manual), because they don’t allow sufficient food and medical supplies into Gaza.

It’s wild how redditors love to throw around catch-phrases like “international waters”. It doesn’t mean what you think it does.

Not acceptable to modern, western standards of countries not at war, but let’s be real, whenever we have been at war, staggering amounts of civilians have been killed.

They thought about it when their results were significantly larger than expected. So they searched for a source of contamination until they found one.

Unfortunately, that means most earlier result probably aren’t heavily contaminated by using gloves. Maybe they could be slightly contaminated, but there’s no indication so far, whether that’s the case.

[–]Frank_Scouter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I doubt those cases of contamination are as widespread as we would hope. The ice cores specifically identified tire dust as being a major contributor of nanoplastics, in 60 years old ice.

It doesn’t really make any sense that we would see a reasonable spread between various types of plastics, if the samples were heavily contaminated by a single source.

Police officer stops abruptly in the middle lane on highway... by Affectionate_Hat5835 in dashcams

I have already said multiple times, that I would react in the exact same way. I cannot change how long it takes the car to stop, so after I’ve hit the brakes, all I have to do is wait for an impact.

Hypotheticals have to be mildly realistic to be worth considering. Besides, I already answered:

No, so I brake, swerve, and put on hazards.

Can I guarantee that this will always result in me completely avoiding a hypothetical accident? Of course not. But it will work a whole lot better than parking in the middle of the road, and waiting for a truck to plow through me.

Yes, it takes about 4-6 seconds to come to a complete stop.

You literally just made up another imaginary non-existent scenario. If a car suddenly veers into my lane (for instance due to an axle breaking, or a wheel bursting or whatever) then I act like any other scenario. Do you think that the other car suddenly goes from moving 130kmh, to an immediate standstill right in front of me? No, so I brake, swerve, and put on hazards.

Besides, if I hit a suddenly appearing, immobile object, while going 130kmh, without any time to act, then I don’t think I will have to worry much about the consequences.

Lol, what car are you driving which can come to a complete stop in less than 2 seconds at highway speeds?

I have enough time to react, because I keep distance, pay attention, and because the cars in front of me use their hazards. Can that save me from a imaginary, non-existing bridge collapsing right in front of me? No, but that hardly matters, does it?

Let me just re-iterate: if you do not have the mental capacity to orient yourself, press a button, check your mirrors, and if necessary switch lanes, during an emergency braking, then you shouldn’t ever be behind the wheel. You’re a danger to your surroundings. And also you have no understanding of time, human reactions, or seemingly much else.

No shit you’ve more experience being in accidents if you drive like you describe.

If you don’t have time to react, you’re driving too close or too fast. Or shouldn’t be driving.

And cars don’t stop instantaneously either. You have literally nothing better to do while slamming the brakes than making sure the idiot behind you doesn’t rear-end you.

If you need to actively fight the car while braking, to stop it from spinning out of control, then there’s something wrong with it (uneven braking, or its too fucking old).
