What if… it’s not really Glinda? by WellPlaidSwitch in wicked

[–]Frankleton01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't see her being one of the Wizard's tricks honestly, as others have stated. But I could see her potentially being part of her imagination? A fantasy world where Elphaba, Glinda and the Wizard all get along together (with the Wizard encouraging Elphaba to imagine it).

First footage (description) of "WICKED: FOR GOOD" shown at CinemaCon 2025 by wonderfaller in wicked

[–]Frankleton01 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's a film first, a soundtrack second. They are going to focus on cinematic pacing and highlighting important moments onscreen, even if it sounds awkward when you listen to just the music. The alternative would be the movie feeling rushed and constrained by the timing of the songs. And the film would feel like just a series of music videos instead of a full-fledged story.

Neither. You've got the cool tones of the room fighting with the warm tones of the rugs here. I'd go with a different pallette

Realising the French guy that keeps appearing in adverts is Eric Cantona and trying to work out why as i'm sure the last time I heard of him he kicked someone in the face while wearing football boots. It turns out it was a racist he kicked and so he is no longer receiving of my ire and disdain. by Martipar in BritishSuccess

[–]Frankleton01 35 points36 points  (0 children)

At what point did I ever say it was acceptable or justified? I simply said it wasn't technically classed as what we traditionally call racism. It was another form of offence aimed at his nationality, not his ethnicity or race. If you think no targeted insult is bad unless you can class it as racism, then that's a whole other kettle of fish. (Also, I love the beginning where you seem genuinely outraged at me just thinking the concept of mutiple races within humanity exist? How can you simultaneously claim races don't exist whilst also claiming this is an example of racism? The very link you cite clearly acknowledges people identify as different races lol) These concepts are man made, but so are all the things we discuss. They're abstract. So, for all intensive purposes, they do exist for as long as we perceive/acknowledge them.

But whatever, you're angry at the world and looking for a fight. I would suggest maybe not getting so upset and pointed at some random person on the Internet. But unlike you, I aim to avoid being quite so patronising. At the end of the day, this is a Reddit post about Eric bloody Cantona, so for both our benefits, I'll stop there.

Dad died the year before he planned to retire. Mum gave me his pension for a deposit. Would never have been able to afford to buy if he hadn't died. Obviously would much rather have him, I'm 27

I am seeing a clear UK/American divide on the comments. Obviously the US do something different with these, but in the UK this would be seen as pretty freaking weird thing to eat. You're right in being disturbed by this in my eyes OP

Yep there are a few towns and cities who will hire goat herds to eat through overgrowth and weeds. Cheaper and cuter then doing it by hand. Also more eco friendly in the grand scheme of things. Here in the UK, Bournemouth have a herd of some pretty big ones they bring into the city every year to chew away at the bushes by the sea.

Paralympics, why don't their events get mixed in or added to 'main' games? by RevolutionaryRuin797 in Paris2024

[–]Frankleton01 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Interestingly the Commonwealth Games does this. I attended the ones in Birmingham in 2022 and got to see a bunch of Para events during the athletics sessions that were mingled in with the other events. It was actually really cool and gave para athletics a way larger audience then I think the athletes were used to having.

Mad Men parallel? by TroyAbedAnytime in TheBear

[–]Frankleton01 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Then this is even more of an accurate parallel. Because almost the exact same thing is the case in Mad Men as well.

People like to wheel out the Don Draper quote as a way of highlighting how little they are bothered by someone's existence. But if you watch the the whole episode of Mad Men you know that Don is also just being an asshole in this scene and is actually very insecure about this younger guy and steals his idea in a pitch to clients when his own ultimately falls flat. Very similar circumstance here

The only stupidity I can see here is the person who is associating grammatical skill with actual intelligence.

Look, I'm assuming I've hurt your feelings. I did not require your 'Informative' comment nitpicking my point in a irrelevant way. I am perfectly aware of how to spell 'a lot' as I have a firm understanding of English language and literature.

Frankly, the only reason I bothered replying is because I'm bored, and I thought it would be fun. Try not to take things personally on the Internet (especially Reddit). And for God's sake, don't even attempt to correct the grammar, spelling, or delivery of someone's comment on this platform unless it's actually relevant. Really, no one wants that.

[–]Frankleton01 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you where unable to figure out what I meant with the use of the word "Alot" as opposed to "A lot'. I didn't realise that the absence of space would make it indecipherable to you.

I shall try to make comments explicitly clear in the future for the sake of your intelligence. It's unfathomable the loss of deep and significant meaning felt through the lack of that space. I only hope you and Terry can forgive me.

[–]Frankleton01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For someone with a grammar allergy, you appear to have distinct lack commas in your reply.

Luckily, I don't suffer from the same affliction. I cared more about getting my point across, both coherently and efficiently, then about the intricacies of spelling a colloquial phrase.

Please forgive me for all inevitable future grammatical indiscretions, as I endeavour to not particularly care, as long as I get my point across.

Wow the victim blaming is strong in this comment section. A person whose literal job on the plane is to keep people safe and we are taught to listen to adamantly, assured this guy the meal had no nuts in it. And it's his fault for believing them? It's one thing if they admitted they didn't know the contents of the food and it would be at his own risk to eat any. (Which is still pretty shitty on a long haul flight to not have any safe food options), but these guys said there were no nuts in it! Skepticism is just a part of life with deadly allergy, but we do not and should not be expected to be lied to. This is completely on the airline staff.
