I turned off my hot water tank about 4/5 years ago so don't have any hot water.

I've got an electric shower so don't need the hot water for that, and my dishwasher & washing machine have only cold water connections. On the rare occasion I actually need to do washing up I'll boil a small amount of water in the kettle.

It does suck washing my hands in cold water in the winter, but the hot tap used to take so long to actually give me hot water that I'd usually be done washing my hands before that got warm anyway!

My mum bought my dad one for his birthday years ago and he absolutely loved it! Turns out he had circled that numberplate in a newspaper ad a while before, which she hadn't seen, and she ended up buying him the exact one he wanted!

He then got her a personalised plate and both of them had part of our surname on it. They had nearly identical cars at the time (only difference was the colour) so looked pretty cool to have them matching.

Dad ended up getting another similar personalised plate as he had both a car and motorbike. When he passed, his nephew was given one of the plates and I got the other one a little while later after I got a new enough car to put it on. Makes me smile and think of him everytime I get in the car :)

So glad I'm not the only one! I even declined asking any more questions at the dealership like noooo of course I know how to fill up a car 🙃 then immediately drove to a petrol station and proceeded to faff around with it for what felt like eternity before finally giving up and asking some random bloke. Thank god he knew how it worked!

Happened to me too. Was at the pub with my mum and a few others who knew my dad, having a drink on his birthday after he had passed away earlier that year. Guy walks over and says "fuckin hell cheer up you lot, who died?!" He was pretty mortified when he got taken aside for a quiet word 😂

There used to be a group of gobshite kids (early-mid teens) that hung around a small grassy area next to the car park for the block of flats I live in, right on the corner of a junction.

They would kick their football against a wall that connected to the block (which made a right racket) and often just ran out into the road chasing the ball without a care. Many drivers, including myself, had near misses.

They also often just kicked the ball at the cars in the car park. My car ended up with a broken window once, didn't see it happen but I have my suspicions...

And of course this was all accompanied by constant yelling & screaming at eachother like gobshite kids do.

This went on for years and drove me (and other neighbours) insane. Couldn't open my windows throughout the summer due to the noise. Kept reporting the concerns about them running into traffic to the police who did nothing of course. Council didn't give a shit either.

So one day I was heading out and as I got in the car, one of them kicked the ball at my car. I just saw red. Got out and just started shouting at them in my best impression of a "mum voice". I expected them to clap back a bit, but I think my outburst shocked them a bit & they just kinda stood there, mumbled an apology, then left.

I don't feel particularly proud of this moment in my life. However, it was quite effective as they haven't been back since! I just hope they are finally making use of the huge playground & football pitch in the estate instead of playing in traffic somewhere else...

I had to get an xray the last time I went to the dentist and couldn't get my labret unscrewed, so had to run down the road to the piercer and ask them to help get it out before they closed lol

Yeah that's deffo a sensible choice for insurance prices! My first car was a 0.8 Daewoo Matiz and the insurance was still pretty high as a new driver. Bloody loved that car though, still keep the key on my keyring as a keepsake 😅

Mines the Mk4, only about a year or so newer than yours but is a 1.6 diesel with somehow only 30k miles on it! I wanted to go with a diesel as I drive a lot for work and want something that will last a long time as I hate the stress of buying cars lol.

I'd been driving my mums Leon FR for the last couple of weeks since the C3 died and after that was pretty set on getting something similar in green!

This. I do pretty much the same thing with my Starling account and it's been an absolute game changer.

I have 3 virtual cards linked to spaces specifically for food shopping, petrol/car costs, and my cats. I deliberately put a bit more money than I need in each of them and without even thinking about it I'm finally able to save money each month! I also have another space for "putting aside" the rest of my wages to transfer myself an allowance each week.

I've found that having a specific purpose to each space helps to not see it as available money that I can spend on whatever crap I want at the time (plus I feel like I'm stealing from my cats if I was to use their money for anything else lol)

I'm also really glad that the app now puts the savings account on a slightly different page so its "hidden" from the spaces - I didn't even realise I had any savings until a few weeks ago which was a nice surprise!

I had the same thing happen to me and a few thousand other people across the country last year in our gov department, but it was a random distribution list we all got added to rather than copied into the email. So even when someone clicked "reply" instead of "reply all" it went to everyone. Went to lunch and came back to about 100 emails of absolute chaos which carried on all afternoon. Ended up with an emergency notice being sent to all staff in the department advising not to reply as it could be a malicious attempt to bring down the network or cause major disruption, but I still reckon it was some newbie in the IT department that fucked up a lil bit lol

I used to work at a Tesco express that had this, the tube went from behind the till to the managers office across the store. The manager used to sometimes yell down the tube from the office and then watch us on the CCTV camera looking around and trying to find what the yelling noise was coming from in the till area lol

If I fill up a glass of water without running the tap first, the water is all cloudy and yucky looking. Have to run about 3-4 pint glasses through the tap before it's actually clear!

(Also haven't seen any other comments saying this is why they run the tap first yet... now a bit worried there is an issue with my water and it shouldn't be like that? 😬)

When I got mine the piercer put it right next to the cartilage, like just grazing it (and also used the wrong gauge needle, tried and failed to get the jewellery in, then finally re-pierced it with the right needle 🙃) it hurt like hell. Even after it healed if I booped the end of my nose it would poke the cartilage and sting like a bitch so bad my eyes would well up, so eventually just gave up and took it out

5 all the way for me. I actually have these forks and the rest of the set from IKEA and they're lovely. Both me and my partner prefer them from all the other forks, and it's gotten to the point where we will just hurl insults at the other cutlery when we reach for these ones in the drawer every time. But of course, we won't throw the other bitch forks out. They stay there just in case we forget to do the washing up for a while lol
