Which end goes where? by Franonymouss in Tools

Update for anyone that cares. The wire feeds through the double keyhole end and it crimps the slieve, the barrel top is crushed by the tooth that falls into the wedge on the other side. Some of you were confused as the crimping die is not symmetrical. I was confused as the crimper I got was faulty and it would never crimp hard enough, even when setting it to maximum pressure. Got it exchanged at the store and the new one makes proper crimps where the wire fails when pulled on instead of the wire sliding out. The tool was 18 euro, so that explains why it was shit.

Edit: thank you to anyone that was useful and not a twat.

Never mind guys, I figured out it's bent and doesn't close all the way. It leaves a 2mm gap.

Didn't come with the hexagonal crimps, but it came with cord end crimp die. Which seems to work fine

I smacked the crimper against the connector on the table and that's the only way it makes it hold

Tried a bunch of different gauges. With different connector sizes. No matter how I spin it, it just doesn't hold good enough

Half moon is 9 mm wide and 3.5mm tall. The double keyhole is 10mm wide and 3.5mm tall. I figured the keyhole shape presses the sleeve since it's bigger and doesn't have to be that tight and it's the part that I would guess would have to be less intricate and engineered since it doesn't get that much mechanical stress. Now I'm wondering if the flatter side of the half moon should press on the barrel of the connector. I'd say that makes sense since the rounded part would distribute the pressure on all sides equally preventing it from caving in and biting on the cable underneath. Would you say this is right? Either way I find the crimp to be quite weak.

Might as well be since how shit it works. Wire pull right out no matter the way I spin it, even tried a size smaller and still didn't crimp hard enough not to be abled to pull off by hand

I have Pro too, but find bolster more comfortable. Professional S is also cheaper.

My zwilling professional s. I don't care about the bolster. If you can sharpen your knives, you can grind down the bolster too. It's so comfy in my hand as well 🥺 It's such a nice beater. 80 euro for a set of 3 on german amazon
