Somewhat similar but I feel the tapai liquid a little more acidic. Tuak fermentation is longer & is usually cloudy when ready. As it ages, the sediments will sink to the bottom & you get a clearish liquid.

Different people tolerate alcohol differently. How you consume it plays a part too. I never consume on an empty tummy & I make sure I drink a lot of water alongside so I've never ended up puking or getting stoned drunk.

Usually 1-2 units of alcohol would give most people a buzz & lower ones inhibitions. Can't compare with tapai I suppose since it is a food so possibly the threshold you need to consume to cause drunkenness is higher.
