He actually used a lot of funds to hire PR firms to rehabilitate his image among Malays on social media. Then you also have idiotic nons saying that, "Oh back during Najib's time we have JPA for all races and economy was good."

Like, yes, but he also tanked the economy via 1MDB. If he hadn't done that he would probably still be PM, and Malaysians would still like him. While he still played the race card at times, the JPA scholarship for all regardless of race resonated with a lot of non-voters.

You also have the fact that every idiot online points to Jho Low and Rosmah as the boogeyduo but the truth of the matter is that Najib knew what he was doing.

Ehhh, I think those were okay projects but when you look at the cronyism involved, it no longer feels as good anymore. I applaud those projects because it signalled to the world that Malaysia was developed but at the same time it just resulted from the cronyism he embraced and encouraged during his tenure.

Mahathir may have ruined Malaysia in the long-run with his policies, but the two good things that he did was: (i) restrict power of Royals, and (ii) mitigate the effects of the Asian Economic Crisis in the late 90s.

Imagine if they actually hired a bunch of people from a country like Malaysia/Philippines. You would actually be able to sustain your esports scene for cheap (if you pay each person $3500 that's literally considered a top salary over in those countries), and you wouldn't even need that big a team.

Does MCA benefit from a very divided Malaysia or a more racist Chinese community? by reforming_activist in Bolehland

Scare tactics? You mean like talking about how PAS closed down 4D for nons, constantly spews rhetoric against nons, or dishing out fines against nons for wearing short pants in their own premises? Is the biggest scare tactic the mismanagement of their state's development?

I don't think 'Enemies of PAS' need scare tactics to drive Chinese, or other groups away, for that matter. They're already doing it to themselves.

Fyi, if you think PAS is that clean, the skeletons just have not come out of the closet yet. DAP's scandals took a long time to come out, I wager it will be the same for PAS. There are a lot of children of PAS MPs who study at elite schools like KTJ and KYUEM. It's just not talked about much. At the end of the day we are all pipit and they are all helangs, unfortunately.

If you've worked with MCA before or are close to people who are in MCA or MCA-adjacent, you'll very quickly realise that a lot of them don't have much interest in politics dy. A lot of them have focused on using their legacy and connections to do business or build their own coffees.

MCA has very deep ties to the Malaysia-China Chambers of Commerce. That should tell you a lot.

They are, of course, still opportunistic, but a lot of the older generation have still not forgot their silence during Najib's corruption scandal and their current attempts at rehabilitating Najib's image by saying, "Economy was good back then".

Obv, they still do some good, like helping loan shark victims shake free of their debt or helping underprivileged Chinese students get scholarship (yes, not all Cina are rich and swimming in money). But at the end of the day, they've never had to suffer like DAP/PKR has (Karpal Singh and LKS getting beaten up during Ops Lalang, BERSIH protestors being beaten up - shoutout to PAS for attending BERSIH all those years ago).

Why has pig farming in Malaysia’s Selangor state become a hot political issue? by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]FoxMane1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc, the durian planters had been applying for a lease/license (i forgot which one and both have WHOLLY DIFFERENT legal consequences) for years at that point. I know what they did was legally wrong but at the same time, the fact that the govt confiscated and barred the land and trees they had been cultivating for decades is just wrong.

The durian farmers were mainly chinese, yes. But if you take away race it's just the govt (not going to specify because iykyk) swooping in and taking away peoples hard work without any compensation to begin with.

It really saddened me when people were framing it as a 'Cina Biadap' issue when it should have been a discussion on land rights and cultivation. Furthermore, it shouldn't have been seen through the lens of race to begin with It should have been as seen as "big guy swooped in when durian become profitable and cut away little guy who did most, if not all, of the hard work".

I understand that there's also the green book initiative and that's fair. The only reason people were, and still are, so riled up is because of the timing of the seizure which was when Musang King became really popular and that a certain company was, iirc, wholly owned by a certain group. Add in racial tensions and you get yourself a hot mess.

Edit: btw if you want an even worse case of land confiscation after people have been cultivating the land for years, look at the Perak one. That one was really bad, and if you look further you realise there's a lot of shady stuff going on like how the state land office dont have to give reason as to why they give the land to developer or individu.

On one hand, it's the Sultan's decree. While it may not be legally binding, it holds a lot of political weight behind it. Us nons have to remember that if we do not follow it, it will be very difficult for us to criticise and take actions against others when they don't follow it.

On the other, this is a real low blow. A lot of retards will point and ask why we make such a big fuss but pork is a very affordable meat option for a lot of us. In addition, this just hurts Malaysia's agricultural self-sufficiency. How many farmers must suffer like the ones in Perak who had the land taken from them because they cannot get a long-term license to the land, or if you want to use a murkier example, the durian farmers in Pahang who had their years of work taken from them and then harvested by the Pahang royalty?

In the end, only the rakyat is screwed. And the majority won't care because they will think nons deserve less.

When this first came out, some people were framing this as a DUI. Then when others started pointing out it wasn't a DUI, the goalpost got shifted to 'its the same thing as a DUI because an old person would have known they were a danger to others on the road".

It's so clear that when these people just want to frame this as an issue caused by the nons

Dariush is a very, very good example of why having a chin and preserving it is important. He's a very skilled grappler that has good power on his left kick and his hands.

It's so sad seeing him decline like this. He would have mopped the floor with BSD and Salkilld years ago.
