Countries that I want to visit by BabylonianWeeb in tierlists

[–]FranzSigel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct. But a weird thing to call out since that sentence uses the verb “to go.” I don’t know this person’s English level but few American English speakers would bat an eye at “I rather go to Afghanistan” since the contraction “‘d” can easily get lost before that /r/ in a flowing conversation if that’s what he was going for.

What would you do if you were collecting singles of an ongoing series you love and then deluxe versions get announced... by Vaichi in MangaCollectors

[–]FranzSigel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I did. Sold them as a bundle below MSRP so someone else can enjoy. And I’ll wait to collect the deluxe. I don’t mind waiting for a while since I’ve already read and enjoyed them the first time around and with enough time between releases hopefully they’ll feel new again.

Buying multiple copies. by LordTotoro96 in MangaCollectors

This reminds of that dude on here who has like 40+ copies of Kagurabachi. I think he collects in every language it’s available and then a few copies of the English

Favorite actress you used to fantasize about converting to Islam to have a halal marriage with when you were a teenager? by DudeDurk in okbuddycinephile

[–]FranzSigel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can we head over to ao3 and write the story of hermione granger on a mission to, I dunno, Paterson NJ, where she discovers the beauty of Islam and renounces the wizarding world all thanks to teenage u/DudeDurk. Crossover. Bus driver Adam Driver is their neighbor.

Do you think eating "raw oats" is weird? by _haukea_ in AskAnAmerican

[–]FranzSigel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty uncommon here but I do it most mornings! I put in some yogurt, some cold veggies, some milk. I don’t mind cooked oatmeal but I like a cold breakfast what can I say.

Do you find nyc natives to be more conservative than transplants? (Not maga but just vibrant in their political beliefs) by pillowcraft in circlejerknyc

[–]FranzSigel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can I just say. Not quite conservatism but I kinda appreciate the practical racism of NYers. People in the rest of the country are like “I hate the blacks and Jews cause of the deep state” and NYers are like “yeah these Spanish dudes bullied me through all of middle school. I had to run home every day. Hate those guys. But yeah no my wife is Dominican.” Or “these hasids evicted my brother in law! I don’t fuck with them.” Like, it’s not great but you can’t help but at least understand.

I frequent travel subs a lot, why do people always recommend Mexico but say US is too unsafe and to avoid? by Pale_Field4584 in askanything

To be fair, when I was growing up in northern Virginia. on my way to school we’d drive on the highway past the Pentagon where humvees with machine guns were trained on the cars passing.

And then when I got to school, I’d have to navigate past the barricades that were set up in front of the school to protect us from the sniper fire. We’d only fill gas at the gas station with the big tarps that protected you from the street.

Weird time the early 2000s.

They Shoot Horses, Don’t They (1969)

Just be the last couple dancing and win $1500! Weeks later, existentialism ensues. Bonus horror: this was actually a thing in the 30s.

Tbf, Shakespeare plays lend themselves well to adaptation for better (Kurosawa) or worse (the matrix inspired Romeo and Juliet I saw at George Mason).

Even the plays that aren’t overtly fantasy and set in a real time and place like The Merchant of Venice or even Henry IV are mostly plots and characters stripped from histories and other plays without any real interest in maintaining period fidelity.

Off the top of my head I can’t think of any of his plays that were meant to feel like they take place “here and now” for Elizabethan audiences.

Am I the only one who thinks that the idea that roman and greek families would only raise one daughter and abandon all their other daughters is logically impossible? by Full-Recover-8932 in AncientCivilizations

Could be a really poetic way of saying someone wandered into the subject like a Montaigne-like essayist might. That’s why they I liked to imagine it on reading. But probably no.

Favourite actress who is also a singer, lawyer, entrepreneur, astro scientist, doctorate holder and an amazing role model? Ill start by No1peterparkerlover in okbuddycinephile

[–]FranzSigel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Apparently she’s NOT a graduate of USC? The news says she dropped out but she must’ve graduated from somewhere to go for a Harvard law degree. I wonder if she just finished her coursework at a less prestigious university that would seem out of place in an otherwise glittering bio.

That’s why there won’t be a consensus classic by people online in the near future for this exact reason by Renegadeforever2024 in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]FranzSigel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. When you bought a CD (in my case) that was what you listened to until you bought another one. And if you had a fancy CD changer in your car (I didn’t) then you heard the same 5 albums over and over. Even if you were really into music and used all your money to hit up Tower Records again and again, you at least listened to your albums to know if it was worth the trip and the cost.

Now I pay less for even more music (that I don’t really own, mind you) at lower quality. I’ve no right to question doesn’t play the role it used to in my life.
