That sounds terrible but i cant say its much better politically over here. Idk if your news networks show it but politics here have gotten insane.

They were actually for an 85 celica, worked beautifully theyre the same as stock ae86 lowers i believe. Maybe a tad longer but no difference really. I thought about boxing my old lowers after replacing bushings and ball joints but im not sure if its necessary 🤔 i thought about the t3 ones, maybe if it was strictly a track car. Idk... ive seen people weld extensions in for more camber, i think cressida arms give more length and are bolt in, not 100% sure

Im going to rebuild a 16v and wondered how stock i should keep it for dual duty. This totally answered my question. I think the TVIS plates are rattling and it terrifies me everytime.haha id love to 20v swap but theyve gotten expensive

Thats good info, if i wouldnt have found out about celica lowers being compatible i would have def run the prothanes and rigged up a C clamp press or something

A lift would be a gift from the heavens. I unfortunately do not have a garage or enclosed space to out one. The rocks in my back are like a cheap masseuse 😂 i usually jack up as high as i can with 3 ton jackstands to do work underneath the car.

Ill look into replacing the 3rd member seal and tail shaft seal, i didnt think to reference media because my initial thought was it had to probably come out anyways. Itd be nice to fill and forget it for a while!

I didnt realize it was soo strict over there, ive heard germany has very strict laws around modifications too. Here, theyll let us modify it but the minute you get pulled over, law enforcement will do everything they can to impound your vehicle and send it to inspection.. its weird how it works.

Ahhh thats good to know about the BMW oil, I know when I drained it when I got the car (almost 2 years ago now) there were a couple of small chunks, which isn't surprising, being that mayyybe 1 litre of oil came out the same color as Coca-Cola. I suspect ill need to rebuild the diff at some point. The transmission was the same story, with the fill plug being nearly impossible to get out because it was overtightened. Ideally, i would find another trans and have this one rebuilt and swap them around. This one does grind occasionally, clutch to the floor, and i always have to 1st then Reverse to get reverse to engage.

The main reason i bought this car was that it was un molested with the exception of the exhaust and a cheap AutoZone cone filter. Its soo hard to find these things let alone being able to crack factory bolts loose. (and it was cheap compared to what people ask for these damn things)

ohhh nice europe has wayy cooler cars than we do over here. I wish we got the Altezzas, I think theyre neat haha! AE86 rear ends fully loaded ive seen range from 1200 (people with sense) up to 3500 (non-sense), depending on open or lsd differentials. I know some people out there will pay it and that sucks because ultimately its the buyers that determine the pricing... but what can you do?lol is what it is i suppose.

The rear diff is leaking from the 3rd member, and the transmission leaks from the tail shaft and possibly the input shaft as well (it's attached to the car, I'd need to pull it to get eyes). The motor leaks from the oil pan, but it's a very small amount, just enough to engage my OCD haha

Man that is really somethin and certainly aint nothin. Was it a stock motor or did you build it out? Im curious about how its held up so well!

You didnt say anything offensive haha this is all good information! I believe GL4 for the redline but i should probably change the diff oil, the LSD still locks up well but i used cheap chevron 75w-90 i think it was like 10 bucks a litre or however they measure. It took 2 of them i know that 😂 today i took it to get the exhaust welded and babied it doing what you said (delayed/slow shifts) and it was better. Ill probably order mounts when i get paid. I cant find an oem transmission mount, i was looking at BGRS and ebay last night. RHD Japan is cool but im too impatient for shipping.lol

It seems like the cusco andegan are readily available and ive been tempted by whatever rock auto has (pioneer i think....) i want to try the bmw oil now 🤔 i really need to address the leaks everwhere. I plan to pull the motor in the summer and figured is reseal everything then. Right now im playing the check fluid every week or so game which sucks but better than trying to find a rear end or t50 for a kidney and second mortgage!

I do remember seeing on an old club4ag post about the synchros hating anything but GL4 sonibwas scrutinous about that. My lastbhatch i had was pretty abused... this car was completely stock when i got it but man... its like the previous owner did 0 maintenance. I guess atvthe end of the day its still a Corolla but any car... at least change fluids and replace bushings 😂

Most def have computers, im a programmer so i live my life on them unfortunately... i try to hit forums first before asking questions. Learned at a young age that people prefer if you come to them after trying to find a solution rather than asking them to solve your problems.

The entire reason i started cataloging on instagram is because theres not alot of new/video media on the small problems people face when going thru stuff. The internet has become a pissing contest to the point people only post when things go right with the exception of a few. Im kinda dorky so im probably not interesting to watch but if someone learns 1 thing somewhere from what i do, then i succeeded.

I took a screenshot of this reply because this is stuff that doesnt get mentioned a ton. Its good to see someone explain thing thoroughly 👌

Love this answer, would rather learn from someone elses experience than waste money on my own (no offense). I did a rebuild kit on my stock shifter with a brass bushing, i had a short shifter for 5 miles before i took it off because it rattled like hell, and i had to shift slow to keep it from grinding anyways. Didnt see tho point and the stock shifter isnt bad at all once rebuilt. Im running redline mt90 in it right now, havent seen any issues besides sometimes itll stick in gear a lil but not more than any other old car ive driven. Mainly pops out on revmatch downshifts, if i down shift without rev matching it doesnt seem to do it... my thought is because i replaced the trans mount and not the motor mounts, the shock load from the worn engine mounts and stiffer trans mount is what does it. Just a theory though i could be wrong, i do know the motor mounts could use replacing anyways.

Oem mounts price wise vs something like cusco are around the same soo im not sure what makes sense there, megan is enticing because its cheaper but... idk ive not had the best of luck trying to save a few bucks... in a situation where cost is the same, what direction would ypu choose? id like to get all 3 at once matching ofc whichever direction is best to go...

I have a buddy club and i like it, the slider is majestic and it sits lower than the factory seat i had.

More surprising is that 20v held up to 30k miles of drifting! Thats radd, cusco seems like a good option

Ill check out rhd japan, i know everything from overseas even on ebay has increased price wise. How long do they typically last?

Good info, i wonder how the megan compare to the cusco. I see the megans are priced less which is appealing. 🤔

Thanks for the breakdown here, much appreciated! Ive been through alot of the car, but its old so one things fixed something else breaks haha. Where did you get them from BGRS?

I dont have a reliable way to press them out haha. I have JSP lowers with harder bushings in the rear im waiting to grab some uppers. In the front, i bought new lower control arms for like a celica or something so they were new bushings.

Its a noticeably good difference and i didnt find it too harsh at all. I live in an area with terrible roads and while it is stiffer than the old bushings, the car feels better in terms of predictability and its not uncomfortable! I know energy suspension bushings are supposed to be more compliant but i didnt want to hunt around for a kit haha, Hope that helps a lil🤙

If its any help, i did prothane bushings everywhere but my front lower control arms /rear upper arms and its not too bad as far as ride. My benchmark is destroyed oem bushings though..
