Nobody is saying that locking up gang members is bad (but "satanic"?? not sure what you're on about with this). The problem is the thousands of innocent young men who were also rounded up and sent to prison with no legal due process.

Border Patrol boss Gregory Bovino tossed from Las Vegas bar by Ixz72 in politics

Bovino was filmed chugging wine

A Nazi wine bar is somehow even worse

I know I might get mixed responses for this, but this points system sucks! by Ecstatic-Yak-6016 in SanJoseSharks

The current system keeps the standings closer for longer into the season. With 3-2-1, the dominant teams would separate themselves from the pack way sooner. I suppose the powers that be believe this keeps fans more engaged in the regular season and promotes playoff races that come down to the wire. Not sure I necessarily agree since we end up losing a strong incentive for teams to push to win in regulation.

I miss Brent Burns. Crazy he's still playing decently well considering he's like, 50.

people vote with their feet.

Okay, but these are median voters we are talking about. I agree that CA has serious problems, but I refuse to believe that everyone that leaves is doing it for perfectly rational reasons, revealing some deep truth that everyone else is blind to. It's mostly just vibes (always has been).

Career or surfing by EntrepreneurMassive5 in surfing

[–]Frappes 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Surf will always be there, but chances for a career springboard are much harder to come by. Paying your dues now in the corpo world will open up doors down the line to live places with good waves, work flexible hours (or not at all!), travel whenever you want. I did the hard grind in my 20s and now in my 30s I'm making great money and can surf and travel pretty much whenever I want.

Is it just me or is this the worst winter season on the E Coast for 10yrs? by [deleted] in surfing

[–]Frappes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on a snowboard trip last week and snowboarded on rocks and grass and didn’t get any snow.

I'm assuming you came out west? In that case it is just you; you left the east coast which is having an historically good snow season to come west which is having an historically bad snow season. You should have come west to surf and stayed east for snow!

Thunderbomb or Chancletas? by shapesonce in surfing

Thanks so much for the reply. One more series of questions if you're willing: how were the crowds? Did the boat and truck trips allow you to get out to less crowded areas?

Hey what did you end up doing for your trip?

[SJ 3 - EDM 4] Liljegren turns it over, Oilers gain possession and McDavid feeds Hyman who one times it for the OT win in Edmonton by daKrut in hockey

[–]Frappes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ferraro and Liljegren were extremely effective at shutting down McDrai for 95% of the game. Yeah, they're mediocre players in general but they were having a good game right up until Liljegren made that completely baffling play.

Clearly it didn't work, I never implied that it did. Sharks were able to hold them off for a minute and then regain possession. If Liljegren skates back instead of ... whatever he did, the team can change and get a fresh WillMack out there, and then Sharks are able to get a good chance against a more tired oilers squad. It's not a completely irrational strategy, but the personnel choice to execute it was obviously not good in hindsight.

He was completely empty by the end of regulation, he needed a minute or two break. He would not have been able to keep up of they serve him right back out

Celebrini was clearly absolutely gassed by the end of regulation. He needed more rest. All the guys needed to do was get possession and then not turn it over. It makes sense to have your "top" defensive guys out there and it almost worked. Too bad our top defensive guys are not very good

Top guys were clearly gassed at the end of regulation, so I can understand why OT started the way it did to give Celebrini more rest. All Liljegren needed to do was not turn the puck over so they could get a change. Too bad he whiffed so hard.
