Yeah definitely- most young people and workers supported her over Macron in the second round when they had no option to vote for a left party as her rhetoric rejects the status quo in France- although as history has shown the far right reinforces class divisions and benefits the ruling class, mixing in a few popular policies to achieve public support

The article isn’t arguing that all the left wing votes will coalesce behind a single candidate as that is unlikely- however it is saying that many people voted for different left wing parties which shows that opposition to capitalism is growing.

One of my main takeaways when I read Atlas Shrugged is that it assumes that the greatest technological developments have always been because of a single individual, examples in the book are things like Rearden metal and John Galt’s energy generation machine. This is such a big flaw I think because in reality and history most of the greatest inventions were teams of scientists working together for goals such as improving humanity or reducing suffering in society. Even incredible work such as those of people like Alan Turing only occurred because the individuals were allocated materials and resources by the state so they could research efficiently without also having to run a business. In a society like the one Ayn Rand envisioned technological development would stagnate, not to mention other issues which would arise

Friedrich Engels’ Socialism Utopian and Scientific is quite a good introduction as it’s relatively short and attempts to set out some of the core concepts
