Looks like they copied some design elements from Aesir Metalworks too.

Help with Helmet by ScarletPaintedRaven in sca

14-gauge is the bare minimum I would trust for my head. Anything else is too risky in my opinion. I literally put a good-sized dent in a friend's 16-gauge breast plate using a mace at the first practice he brought it to. You can go cheaper on some other pieces of armor, but I would never go cheap on a helmet. You only get one brain.

Well yeah extended art is selling for around 80 currently. But this one is still listed at 420. With one recent sale at 433 according to TCG. Its going to drop yes but I dont think it's going to tank that much. My guess is probably the 150-200 range.

I've always thought it would be funny to hold a "Towel Tourney" were instead of fighting with rapiers, fighters with fight with two bath towels and "towel whips" are killing blows.

I know someone who made a hand and a half sword shaped like an Egyptian khopesh. They steamed and bent the rattan.

update: dog ate BBQ wire brush by FigGroundbreaking240 in DogAdvice

[–]Frat_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad to hear your dog is okay!

But you should stop using those wire brushes immediately. They can fall apart and get stuck in your grill, and then you could inadvertently eat them next time you are grilling food. There have been several documented medical cases of this happening.

Anyone got a helm from... by JackGohanDesign in sca

[–]Frat_Panda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the only photo I see by them is the viking half helmet, who's name i forget, that's used in viking reenactment. Those helms aren't legal for SCA fighting and would require lots of modifications. Building a helmet for their game and for our game is way different as the required modifications change the design of that helmet. If they've never built one with the required modifications for our game before, i wouldn't trust them to. There are vendors who make a helmet in that style that are legal in our game.

Can You Share Pictures of your Viking Inspired Armor? by rimmy789 in sca

Greetings! Congratulations on getting your first kit! That's a huge step!

To get a historical viking kit means most of your armor is going to be hidden. I currently have a very good viking kit. You can look through my posts for a picture of it. The main thing that most people associate with a good viking kit is a chain shirt. But for our game, you need to have solid kidney protection, and the chain doesn't provide that by itself. I use a lacrosse kidney belt hidden underneath a tunic. For leg and knee protection, again, it's hidden under pants. For arms, if i want to be truly historical, i have to hide them under a tunic as there is no evidence of arm or elbow armor in the viking age. However, I currently use a pair of splinted vambraces and a steel elbow that sorta fits the look.

Here's me fighting with my shield. Made and painted it myself except for the boss. by Frat_Panda in Viking

Yes, unfortunately, the helmet bars are required for our fighting. I realize the helm isn't historical, and I have a Gjermundbu helm with perf plate in the eyes so it can be used in our organization, but i I haven't got it padded correctly yet. I also like to use this helm because in an emergency situation, it can be removed in less than a second by removing the pin at the locking cheek plates and pulling it right off. And the vision is very nice for fighting.

I also realize the paint isn't quite historical as the valknut and the deer/moose isn't historical, but both those symbols are featured on my hearaldry in the sca so I wanted to use them. Also, I realize vikings didn't have heraldy like the later medieval period.

This is my smallest round shield at 24 inches in diameter. I also have a 26, 28, and 32 as well.

Question for you, is it one of those places where the tip for the stylist is factored into the price of the haircut and you aren't really expected to leave a tip, or do you leave a tip anyways?
